I've Got A Job To Do by Dandi Daley Mackall

Posted in Book Reviews

Don't forget the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church is November 13 (&20), 2005!

IF YOU MISSED THE FIRST ONE, THERE'S ONE MORE DAY COMING UP!

My Favorite Verses: I've Got a Job to Do (The Great Commission) - By: Dandi Daley Mackall
THIS IS IT!!!! I've finally found it. I found it a while ago (when I got blessed in a Christian bookstore), but just couldn't find the time to post about it. This book is the one I've been waiting for! If you've read any of my other posts concerning Christian black books for my young children you konw that I was having a hard time finding any. Well, this book comes in and fills the gap!!

The story is told through poetry of which the last line of each stanza is the title of the book. The story starts out with a little girl explaining what the Great Commission is. The story goes on to follow the little black girl (with so cute hair!!!) throughout her life and shows how she carries out the Great Commission. I love the story because it shows how she owns Jesus's command. She believes with all her heart that this is what Jesus wants her to do so she does it with all her might! She's always looking for opportunities. The story also shows how she handles rejection from those who do not want to listen to what she has to say. It's all done on a level that my children can understand. I love how to author keeps the title in the minds of the readers by placing it all throughout the book. At the end, the author includes the scripture Matthew 28:18-20 (I have it memorized now from reading it so often) which is what the whole book is based upon.

I highly recommend this book to everyone with little children!!!! It is a great catalyst for getting your young ones to think about witnessing and actually doing it! You can find it at any Christian bookstore. It might be a new arrival. There are also other titles as this book is one in a series. I'll be looking for the others as well!!!

Score: 10 out of 10
Summary: Wonderful book for wives!

Creative Counterpart is an older book (first published in 1977), but it’s message rings true. It’s all about our relationship with our husbands, ladies. She gleans her information from the Word and adds her own examples and applications. It’s very helpful and hard hitting. There is even a study in the back of the book for a woman's group to use or an individual (I'm actually going through the study by myself). I recommend it to any married woman, especially those that serve the Lord Jesus Christ!

Intimate Issues is a very good book (FOR MARRIED PEOPLE ONLY!!!). It helps you through those intimate issues you may have with your spouse. It covers a wide range of topics and issues and answers many questions. Linda Dillow’s teaching on Song of Songs is great stuff to meditate on. Her book puts things into perspective and gets the priorities straight. There’s a surprise at the back of the book that’ll spice up any bored relationship.  I highly recommend it!

Score: 10 out of 10
Summary: SECOND ALL TIME FAVORITE CHRISTIAN FICTION BOOK EVER!!!!!

Piercing the Darkness is the sequel to This Present Darkness. I recommend you read the first one to get a good background before reading this one (and also because it’s just as good as this one). The same angelic characters are used in this book as in the first book. I think that adds so much to the story.

This time a struggle for supremacy is being played out through a Christian school’s lawsuit. There's also a story of a woman finding freedom from her demons (literally) in Christ. The plot in this story was very hard hitting and the things that go on are eye opening. Another winner from Frank E. Peretti!!!! I super recommend this book too!!! This is my second all time favorite Christian fiction book!! I only wish he wrote more spiritual warfare fiction books like this.

Summary: Very inspiring!

First, let me clear up the questions for anyone that wasn't quite sure. Yes, this is the guy on T.V. with the big mega church. I remember when my husband and I first saw him we were floored that he could talk about spiritual warfare in such a nice tone of voice...

Anyway, on to the review. Your Best Life Now was on the New York Times Best Sellers list so you know it’s good. If the world can recognize a good book that points them to Jesus it’s got to be something else. This book is so inspiring! Every chapter is encouraging to the utmost. It’s all about the part positive thinking plays in your Christian life. He gives some great examples that will stick with you for the rest of your life. This book is totally enriching and edifying to your soul. I highly recommend it!

This book was so powerful in my life. I read and did what this book suggested (what the authors believes the Word of God is telling us to do) and I was able to experience three painless births and many more blessings. God brought this book into my life by divine appointment and I’m so glad He did because I have such a low tolerance for pain.... Anyway, this book will challenge you to think as God thinks about pregnancy and childbirth. I highly recommend it to any and every family. Use that measure of faith God gave you!! =)=)=)

Summary: Non-compromising truth

This book is extremely non-compromising. Michael and Debbie Pearl believe in training their kids before problems arise. If you follow her advice you will get her results (just look at their 5 kids...I think they had 5). All of the techniques in this book work. The main thing that is needed is love, joy and consistency. I highly recommend this book to every parent.

The Torch and the Sword by Rick Joyner

ISBN: 1-929371-36-5

Pages: 154
Recommended: Yes
Score: 10 out of 10
Summary: Quickened Word of God
Link: http://www.morningstarministries.com

This book always sounds like a sermon to me. You know how sometimes you’re sitting up in church and your mouth is wide open because the pastor seems to be telling everyone what you did the past week. =) That’s exactly how this book affects me every time I read it. It’s a fresh Word all the time. That’s how you know it’s the Word of God. God’s Word is quick and powerful, sharper than any twp-edged sword, dividing asunder the soul and spirit, joints and marrow and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. It is the third installment of a trilogy of books that tell of a prophetic dream Rick Joyner had. It’s very inspiring, very challenging and very encouraging. I recommend it to anyone who is serious about going deeper in God.

This Present Darkness by Frank E. Peretti

This Present Darkness

Author: Frank E. Peretti
Publish Date: 1986-08-01
Publisher: Crossway Books
ISBN: 0891073906
Genre: Religion & Spirituality/Christianity
Pages: 375
Recommended: Yes
Score: 10 out of 10
Summary: MY FAVORITE CHRISTIAN FICTION BOOK OF ALL TIME!!!
Link: http://www.amazon.com

This Present Darkness was the first I had ever read about spiritual warfare and it was excellent!!!!! I loved it when I was in high school and I still love it! I’ve re-read it about four different times. It gives you a whole new perspective on what goes on in the spirit realm. It explains things in such a layman’s- terms way. It’s about a struggle between a Satanic coven and one of the town’s churches for dominance. That’s really all that spiritual warfare is. Satan fights against God for supremacy.

The topic of spiritual warfare might sound super spiritual, but this book brings it down to earth. The plots hit home and the imagery draws you in!!! I super recommend this book!!! Ten times over!!!! It’s my all time favorite Christian fiction book!
