Coffee Break ~

Well the family visitors will be soon be here.  My brother, his girlfriend, my sister, her hubby & 2 kids will be here on Thursday & then my hubby's brother & his 2 kids will be here on Saturday.  All are staying through the 4th of July.  We are so excited!!

With that all the things around the house that we've been putting off are glaring at us for attention.  As well as projects that we already had scheduled that need to be completed.

For example when we bought this house one of our favorites features is that we have a built in pool.  It has provided our family & friends many good times till about 2 yrs ago when we just decided not to open it.  The weather that year here in Minnesota was not really turning into summer.  It was not usual & it seemed to rain a whole LOT!!  Then last year it was evident we needed to replace the liner. The pool is actually 30 years old & pretty cumberson to maintain.  So we met with contractors & got bids to have it redone.  We ended up putting the project on hold till this year.  Oh how I have missed the pool.  OK so now here we are as of a few weeks ago we had bulldozers & cement trucks all over our yard.  YEAH!! Our pool is open for the season but we still have all the landscaping to do.  So outside it's been a mess!!

My mom who was living with us & our daughter moved out. So now we are rearranging rooms.  Cleaning out space we forgot  we had.  (Not really - I was just trying to - I am the family pack rat) My mom is great at this so her & our daughter went on a clean out crusade all in the name of a yard sale.  So we recently had the yard sale of the summer.

Have I mentioned my house is 80 years old?  Well with that every year we contemplate tearing it down or fixing it up.  Each year we decide to just fix it up & this year is no different.

There you have it.  My summer so far.  I did manage to get in the pool 2 times now & both times it rained but oh it was nice.  My hubby & I went out last night & quick had to run home for a minute.  We found all 3 of our kids & friends swimming.  It's worth the mess!!

Hubby informs me my break is over & if I want to go to the Classic Car Show I better get a move on.  He can be a taskmaster but he also knows how to get me motivated.  I hear there are 11,000 classic cars at the show this year.

Have a super summer weekend!! God Bless!!

Jun. 25, 2006 - You gonna have fun

My dad restores cars and enters them into the car shows around MN. He just finished one but I do not know the name? He usually does Mustangs, chevelle, 1 Thunderbird, that one won alot of prizes. You have a pool in MN, we keep saying we want to put one in but we may be able to use it July and August then that is it. Iam happy for you as it is such a treat to go in and cool off in the fresh water. Our new neighbors have a pool and they are never home to use it. I wish I was rude so I could go over there and use it for them. But I just could not do that. LOL So your question about Smileys on comments: you cannot use them in comments but when you add a entry you can by clicking your tool bar if you have a PC. I do not, I have a mac so I had to download Firefox and now when I want to use the fun smileys I can though Firefox.com. Well I am off to Micheals for more card making things. I have made 32 cards so far this past week and I have 2 argueing boys this week because of me not spending enough time in the pool with them. they always try to soak me when I get comfy. LOL Have a great week preparing for guests.

Jun. 26, 2006 - Your note on my blog

Thank you for the note on my blog. It's good to know that God is using the study for his glory. And thank you also for the encouraging words.

I have to add that your summer sounds extremely busy. Glad you got your pool back though. We have one and couldn't imagine summer without it. Believe it or not, you're actually north of our part of Canada. (I'll leave you to check a map and guess at where we are). I'm also glad to hear about the times you and your hubby spend time together. Did you know that the divorce rate in home schooling families is incredibly high? That's because too many moms spend too much time with the kids and not enough time with their man. Well done on your part. I'm really glad my hubby and I did that because now, in the empty nest, we have a connection and are growing closer daily. God bless, my friend, and have a great day.

Jun. 26, 2006 - I loved having a pool!

I really miss not having a pool. Where we use to live we had an inground pool. Even though I didn't go in it every single day, it was there for me to use when I wanted to. It was great exercise for my son (who only sits in front of the computer screen now) and it even got hubby moving. Eventually we are going to get one here. I absolutely insist on it! Enjoy the pool. Hope you had fun at the car show.

Jun. 29, 2006 - Today is the big day

Finally all the guests arrive and they are going to love the pool, mosquitoes and deer flys. Do I miss MN? I am just teasing you again. LOL There are mosquitoes in FL but I haven't seen one yet. They do have these minute bugs that are so small you cannot find them when they bite, they are called love bugs. I hope you have a great time with every one and keep us posted as to all the fun you are having. Blessings to your family. Kelly
