Please be praying for us. God is taking us through some changes in our lives, that I don't feel good about talking about on the internet. Dh has been very stressed and tired. We continue to have issues with the electronics in our home, but we did get a new computer - praise God. It gave us a lot of trouble getting set up due to one of the trial programs installed in it blocking another program that we wanted to install. It is finally set up and running well, though. Ds, 14 months, is sick with a fever since waking from his nap yesterday.
On the homeschool front, we got the basics done most days. DD8 was feeling poorly on one day, so she didn't get it all done that day. We are really enjoying a few books that we are reading: On the Banks of Plum Creek, and Prudence and the Millers, and The American Story, which is a collection of true, short stories about our history. The stories are giving my girls a fuller picture of history than we have gotten from anything else we've done so far - living history. So Charlotte Masonish too! DD10 and DD8 both finished their math books they were working on, and DD8 finished her HWT cursive writing book too. I got the new curriculum from Homeschooling in the Woods on Colonial Life in the mail, so I really need to make a final drive to finish the one on the New World Explorers soon. I think we will try to do more of the copy work and penmanship from this one this time.
Hopefully I will be able to schedule my time that I can get back into blogging more regularly without it taking over all my free time now that I have a computer at home.
Hi Carol,
Prayers & Best Wishes for you all for good heath and guidance!
So good to hear from you! And what a loaded qustion, I can tell you are in deep thought. I wish I could have you over and we could just gab the afternoon away. But no, I don't mind, ask away. As far as keeping the OT laws, I do what I can. Of course, we do not sacrifice animals, Jesus paid it all and obedience is better than sacrifice. Also, my dh is not circumcised, nor do we completely abstain from pork. However, I do believe God's ways are best, they were set in place long ago for our good, and so I do try to limit our pork intake, and eat Levetically...re: hooves & scales, I don't eat any rare meat (blood), on the rare occassion I buy hot dogs, I only buy kosher (Hebrew National brand). But like anything, one has to decide in their own mind how far to carry it - if I truely was going all OT law, then we wouldn't have gravy (blood/fat) either, and I love gravy. I try to remember to choose clothing out of natural/un-mixed fibers (wool, cotton), and try to keep the Sabbath as well as the Lord's Day work free. And we tithe & teach the girls to do also - very important. So I try to do my best, but the Lord knows I fall very short, and that is what He said the law was for, to show our shortcomings - our need of a Savior. So, I keep trying, but I don't let it drive me crazy, lest I become a Pharisee, and thank God for His Grace. In Act 15:20, Gentiles were instructed to only abstain from idols, fornication, thngs strangled & from blood, and that's all as it pertains to the Jewish Law. In the broad sense, I believe anything more than that is a heart issue as the Holy Spirit leads each individual - of course, Jesus teaches more that we need to obey, but in the Levetical sense, those were the biggies. I know, it's a constant prayer issue for me between OT & NT issues. Thankfully God knows my heart and I keep growing in this issue but haven't arrived yet.
May the Lord flood your lives with peace in all you do. May His Grace and Love light your path and may you enjoy His Presence as He leads you step by step.
Because of Jesus, Bobbie
SoCalVal has her prayer request Sunday , you might want to list your desire for prayer there because so many go there to pray for one another.
Carol,
I most certainly will pray for all of you.
I think God has changes in store for our family, too. I am not sure what yet - but it is just a 'hunch' I feel in my heart.
One thing have I desired of the Lord that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life. To behold the beauty, the beauty of the Lord. To inquire in His temple, the temple of the Lord.
This is my everyday thoughts about being a mother to three little ladies (12, 10 and 5) and a two year old son. We serve God full-time, and I am a physician assistant. I have the most awesome husband in the world. I am trying to seek and serve God with all my heart, all my soul, all my mind and all my strength.
