On Thursday morning as the girls and I were sitting down to do our Bible reading, one of the girls looked out the dining room window and noticed this grey bird at one of our suet feeders. He is all grey except for black and white on his wings and tail. He has a longish black beak, and is about the size of the Stellar's Jays. I quickly grabbed my camera to capture some shots of him through the window, with the zoom all the way out and trying to avoid the baby's finger prints from looking out the window this morning. The bottom picture has him with the stellar's jay behind him. Pretty cool, eh?
If you'd like to join the fun or see other blogs that are doing Show and Tell Friday, hop on over to Mary's blog aka Canadagirl.
Cool! The camera did good shooting out the window! I saw some cardinals the other day out our window but by the time I got my camera, they were gone. I still got a pretty picture of the snow, but I stepped outside to get it. Brrr... It's on my nature blog.
What BEAUTIFUL shots !!! Good Work ! I love bird watching. I am so sad this year we haven't seen much birds. I HAVE to get up some bird feeders asap !!!
Sending you blessings and ((hugs)) my SSiC

Hey, that's neat that you caught him with a stellar jay for comparison. He's a plump looking bird. It's been warming up here and I see bulbs sprouting so I got two of the bird houses up on the fence line. Just have to be ready with the housing!
That is an interesting bird. I don't think I have seen one like it in our area. Thanks for sharing all these neat bird photos. I am really enjoying them.

DUH on the bird book question! I've never even noticed, but my copy DOES say Eastern and Central North America! Haha! Good one on me. And yes, I guess Clark said, "Dibs on the big gray bird with the thick beak!" Haha! I wish I could go bird-watching with you!
Oh, oh nice!
And...I LOVE your new template--it fits on my screen and I like the way it all blends together. I don't suppose you'd be willing to share it, so I can have the "basics"? I"m trying to redesign my blog and I'd like to have the one border all the way around, like yours.
I love your bird pictures. Yesterday I had my son move my feeder to the deck where I could get to it to fill it. Hoping to get some pics myself, if they ever figure it's there!

How are you surviving all that snow? Have you got anymore? We are suppose to get more weather here next weekend so it will be heading your way. :) Thought you would like to know.
Wow, these are great pictures, taken from my a window? I just love when we can have little moments like this in our homeschool. Last summer, we had a couple of days where we had Monarch butterflies, day-by-day more came and we would seize the moment with Anna.
You asked me if I still do the timer, yes, I did get away from it, and the Lord reminded me that I need to go back to it. I am wanting to do it more often, i see that we are under some spiritual warfare.
((((love you sister and praying for you))))

Hello! I was just popping in and visiting all the posts from Friday's Show and Tell and saw that you just posted a comment on MY blog. How funny... Thanks for stopping by. I love your blog - looks fresh and country-like. I'll swing by again...
Have a great night. You are welcome to come by tomorrow on my blog for Prayer Request Sunday - I host it each Sunday.
What a neat bird! I have never seen anything like it!
How have you been lately? You have been on my mind lately.
I bought some new fabric 'headbands' from Claire's boutique at the mall. They are very simple and pretty - (and DH likes them, too!) ;-)
I pray all is going well for your family. (Julie says to say Hello to "C.")
Hello,
What a surprise this morning to have *3* comments on my blog. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
My four kids: dd-9, dd-7, dd-5 and ds-3. Three girls and a boy, sound familiar?
We have been in AK for 4 and a half years. My husband grew up in Fairbanks, so when the opportunity for us to move up North opened up we jumped on it. I grew up as a missionary kid in more tropical climates, so the adjustment has been huge for me. Overall, I love it here, great people, wonderful homeschooling (the state even provides $$ for curricua and activities!), wonderful summers, permanent fund dividend (it is supposed to be around $2000 per family member his year), a huge population of conservative christians. The only thing I struggle with are the winters being so dark and long. If it weren't for that, I think I could live here my whole life. I have made wonderful friends that I am very close to. That's the way it is up here. Most poeple in AK don't have extended families living nearby, so your friends and church become your family. I have loved this.
I can't believe somewhere in the lower 48 states would have frost deep into June. Hard to feel sorry for myself when I hear that :)
Anyway, I hope I addressed most of your questions, glad to be added as your friend, I have done likewise.
One thing have I desired of the Lord that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life. To behold the beauty, the beauty of the Lord. To inquire in His temple, the temple of the Lord.
This is my everyday thoughts about being a mother to three little ladies (12, 10 and 5) and a three year old son. We serve God full-time, and I am a physician assistant. I have the most awesome husband in the world. I am trying to seek and serve God with all my heart, all my soul, all my mind and all my strength.
