Quote from "Across the Puddingstone Dam" by Melissa Wiley
Upon being asked whether she minded being an old maid, old Auntie Rho explained that she'd always had what she needed, and things could have been worse. She concluded with "Eat what you're served, child, and season it any way you like. You do that and you'll get along right."
I interpret this as 'Make the best of what life brings your way.' I wish that more of us would embrace these words; I know that I fall personally guilty of looking at someone else's tools and not sharpening my own saw. In my 40's, it's beginning to occur to me more and more that the Lord and I determine my altitude, not man and his rejection/ criticism/ insecurities. Thanks for sharing.
I love your weekly wrap-ups. I've been trying to do something along this line, but I've found that I am inconsistent, and probably not as effective. Maybe I need to join a meme group such as yours so that I'll be more accountable. Congratulations to your mission's team--God must have big plans for them to send such resources their way.
Blessings, Carol. Also, are you getting so skinny on purpose?
One thing have I desired of the Lord that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life. To behold the beauty, the beauty of the Lord. To inquire in His temple, the temple of the Lord.
This is my everyday thoughts about being a mother to three little ladies (12, 10 and 5) and a three year old son. We serve God full-time, and I am a physician assistant. I have the most awesome husband in the world. I am trying to seek and serve God with all my heart, all my soul, all my mind and all my strength.
