For Today, Monday, May 4th, 2009

Outside My Window...

The sun is shining now, but it snowed all morning.  Nothing stuck, for which I'm grateful!

 I'm thinking...

a lot about how much work I need to do on myself to make me a better discipling mother, and to have my children working with me from the heart.  They are embarrassing to have in public, and I suppose it is my own fault.

From the learning rooms...

had a great morning today, because we thougth we'd be going to town and to the library this afternoon.  As it turns out my 9 year old got sick at lunchtime and didn't want to go to her dance club.  I stayed how with her and her two younger siblings.

I am thankful for...

the ability to grow in grace and God's word.

From the kitchen...

Monday - Chef salad.
Tuesday - Stir fry.
Wednesday - Grilled burgers.
Thursday - Spaghetti and asparagus on request by the birthday girl.
Friday - Roast beef and veggies.
Saturday -  Leftovers as usual, or popcorn and cheese and apples while we watch a movie
Sunday - To be determined

I am wearing...
Khaki skirt, pinkish-orange button up, 3/4 length sleeve sweater, brown boot socks, hair up in a french braid.

I am reading...
OT: Leviticus & I Kings; NT: Luke
Torah Club Vol. 4
Pioneer Sampler and Burgess Bird Book (read alouds)
The Charlotte Mason Handbook by Karen Andreola
Educating the Wholehearted Child by Clay and Sally Clarkson
Lots of preschool stories from Sonlight
The Beloved Land by Janette Oke and T. Davis Bunn
The Prescriber's Letter (continuing medical education)

I am hoping... for a good day at work tomorrow, and to gain better skills as a mom and wife.

I am creating...
a cleaner and more organized home.

I am hearing... the hum of this computer.

Around the house ... laundry almost finished, the two little ones are outside, dishes need to be taken care of from lunch, and supper needs prepared.

One of my favorite things... a comment from a blog friend.

I am going... ?

A few plans for the rest of the week...
Tuesday I work all day.  Thursday is Snow Crystal's 10th birthday.  Friday girl scouts and touring the library.  Saturday I celebrate the Sabbath.  Sunday church.

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you...

Tim is building a portable chicken coop.  I will keep you all posted as it comes together.

I hope you enjoyed your peek into our mountain haven!  Come again!

The chicken coop is awesome! Oh to have fresh eggs from grass and bug fed chickens!

I was thinking the same thing about my kids today. I really have needed to spend some time on discipline issues and how to treat each other. I loved the pictures! So when are you getting chickens?

Thanks for being so faithful in encouraging me. No, I'm not posing in the new SUV. My son took that picture before we left for Big Bend a couple of Christmases ago. That was a great trip, and I hope we get to go back some day!

One of my favorite hsing resources is the Clarkson's Educating the Whole Hearted Child. It was my first exposure to hs and to Charlotte Mason's approach. I have pages dog-eared, highlighted, and penciled in, and I read it again and again. I marinate on different parts dependent upon where I am, and the words have never gotten old.

God bless you, Carol.

Wow, that's a great looking portable chicken coop. Can't wait to see your chicks. If I lived out where we could have some chickens, I'd give it a try. Grace said, not eating chickens, just laying. (hee, hee) Sounds like you have a good week mapped out.

Nice coop Carol. My DH made the chicks one similar to that last year (but not quite as good - then he tore it apart when the chicks grew(?)). So when are the chicks coming?

How's the weather UP there? lol It's a BEAUTIFUL day here, chicks are outside in the cage (ahhh peace & quiet). Going to go out and clean saddles (I want to buy one and sell one very, very soon). And finish staking out the garden & maybe doing some planting. Hope you are having a good Wednesday!!!

Yes, we do moves ours around. Ours really is a bit too heavy to move easily though. I can see yours is smaller. That's good!

Neat to see your project. The girls get into it - don't they? They'll love the chickens too.

Being a better discipling mother is one of my wishes too.
That portable chicken coop is neat. I look forward to seeing the finished product.

One thing have I desired of the Lord that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life. To behold the beauty, the beauty of the Lord. To inquire in His temple, the temple of the Lord. This is my everyday thoughts about being a mother to three little ladies (12, 10 and 5) and a three year old son. We serve God full-time, and I am a physician assistant. I have the most awesome husband in the world. I am trying to seek and serve God with all my heart, all my soul, all my mind and all my strength.
