I've been on the run for the past two weeks. It all started shortly after my last entry.
We bought a Suburban. That week I had to run around getting the tags and taxes and insurance taken care of and pack to go to Kansas to my nephew's wedding.
While we were there we also went to my husband's college, Bethel College in North Newton, for a festival called "Fall Fest".
It was a great weekend, but extremely busy. This week we hit the books again, but started running out of juice by the end of the week. We celebrated Sukkot, or Feast of Tabernacles, although only one day of it was really enjoyed in our Sukkah. I didn't even get pics. We had friends over and ate a special meal in our decorated tent in the back yard. It was nice, but busy.
Friday Mountain Princess had her 12th birthday.
On the Homefront:
In the School Room:
Bible: We read about Moses and the exodus. The older girls are close to having memorized Psalm 103, and Bubbies memorized Isaiah 43:11. We also studied about Sukkot. They worked on the 6th letter of the Hebrew aleph-bet, Vav.
History: We continue to read about Abraham Lincoln with the older girls. We are reading a book together called A Photobiography of Abraham Lincoln. Bubbies is learning about several of the early Christian heroes, like St. Patrick.
Science: The big girls are learning about electricity and magnetism. They also did another electricity experiment. Bubbies continues to learn about water, mountains, rivers and so forth, followed-up with internet sites to expand this.
Read-Aloud: We started Across Five Aprils with the big girls. I am doing My Father's Dragon with Bubbies.
Reader: Mountain Princess and Snow Crystal are reading The Perilous Road. It is exciting.
Language Arts: Pretty much the same for the older girls. Bubbies started reading her first words (at, mat, fat, bat)!
Math: There was a lot of review for the older girls this week, which is always good. Bubbies did a few excercises in her two books. The Singapore book had her putting together two groups of objects and finding the total.
Spanish: MP is using Rosetta Stone and seems to be learning and retaining a lot. SC is using The Complete Book of Spanish (workbook from Wal Mart). She'll get back to Rosetta next year.
On the Mission Field:
The Fall DTS 2009 is going well. They learned about spiritual warfare this week, and the heart of God, I believe, last week.
Thanks for your prayers for my young lady friend. She chose to leave on Friday, which is sad, but I continue to pray for her to make right choices and find herself in another good place with people who will help her grow in her faith.
In the Literary Scene:
I finished the fourth and last book of the Corrie Belle Hollister series. I am also reading Raising Godly Tomatoes by L. Elizabeth Krueger. I just started a new book series about the years around Jesus's time by Brock and Bodie Thoene called First Light. I love their books.
Feeding on His Faithfulness,
Carol

It is sooooooooo good to see all the good things happening in your days. I having been so wanting to do a WWU but when it comes to write it there is no chance or no juice to write. It is harvest time and looking forward to quiet winter days. [0=
One thing have I desired of the Lord that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life. To behold the beauty, the beauty of the Lord. To inquire in His temple, the temple of the Lord.
This is my everyday thoughts about being a mother to three little ladies (12, 10 and 5) and a three year old son. We serve God full-time, and I am a physician assistant. I have the most awesome husband in the world. I am trying to seek and serve God with all my heart, all my soul, all my mind and all my strength.
