Read The Bible & Update n Thanks!

Posted in Spritual Food

No baby yet  I have an apt later today but if I had to guess I don't think much is going on...  In all honesty I have never been one to "Want the baby out!!!" I m getting very uncomfortable (especially at night) and yet I am not desperate to have baby out but I do really want my sister here when I have the baby. So that is my prayer right now that it happens in Gods timing and that the desire of my heart to have my sister here when it happens will be answered!  Thank you all so much for all the comments you have left me, the encouragement really has been a blessing and you have encouraged me to press on and allow the Lord to lead. It would be so easy to just give in and say "ya go ahead and induce" when the offer is there and usually Drs would rather do that anyway. I know in my heart the best thing for me and my baby is to allow nature to take its course. So again thank you for the reminder!!!

Here is a word that blessed me this morning,  I thought I would share it with you all today!

Read The Bible

1 Timothy 4:13:

13Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.

Hebrews 4:12:

12For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

There is no substitute for the basics.

The words of God recorded in the Bible are containers. They contain ideas from God. They contain life. When those words enter us through our eyes, ears, or our thinking, they impart life and faith.

Even if we don't understand everything, we are still receiving a deposit of life from the Word.

JOHN 6:63 NIV

63 . . . The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life.

Many Christian believers are weak in their faith simply because they do not take in much of the Word of God.

If you spend hours each day listening to, watching, and thinking about the news and views of the world, but you only listen (half-heartedly) to a twenty minute sermon on Sunday -- you should not be surprised if your faith is weak and the influence of the world is great in your life.

The choice is yours. Yes, you are busy, but you can, and do, make time for what you think is important.

Fortunately, today there are many aids we can take advantage of. You can read the Bible online, and be reminded each day by an email. You can obtain recordings of Bible translations to listen to while you drive or exercise or work.

"But what should I read? The Bible is so big."

All of the Bible is instructive and worthwhile. However, the New Testament, and specifically the letters to the Church, is written directly to us and is most applicable for us today.

If you want to get acquainted with the Lord, read the four Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. I would recommend starting with John. Mark is the shortest.

If you want to understand redemption and what has happened to you as a result of receiving Christ, and how to live in victory, then you need to read the letters in the New Testament, which are all the books except the Gospels I just mentioned, and the book of Revelation.

Always remember that the Bible is faith food. So if you want your faith to be strong, you need to feed it on the Bible. It does not matter if you feel any different, for faith is not something that you feel. Faith is of the spirit, not of the feeling realm.

I am so glad you said faith is not just a feeling. I have to fully agree on this. I have grown soooooooo much in my faith in the last 6 years and I give the glory to God. I have been lead up to what I call Faith Cliffs. The Lord has allow or lead me to points that I have to jump with FAITH and trust that God will catch and lead me in ALL times. I feel right now that I am at another Faith Cliff with moving and hoping that the house will be done before our housesitting is finished. I have had people say I am not having enough faith b/c I am nervous. I think I AM having faith b/c I AM taking the leap any ways. lol. I am not leaning on my own understanding and Him alone. I am reading 1 Corinthians and it is good.
God Bless my SSiC !

In Him,
-Mary

( ps: I sent another e-card b/c it made me giggle (0= )

Tiany,

I have been following your progress for the past several weeks. (BTW, I am blogging under a different name now. I used to be at tryoneverything.) Anyway, I am about 2 1/2 weeks behind you with my pregnancy and I am being such a baby. I have had all but 1 baby come early so I get very impatient once I cross the 37 week mark. You put me to shame with your patience and faith in His timing. I am praying for a safe arrival for your baby and a safe arrival for your sister. :)

In His Grace,

Karen

Praying all goes well when you bring your new son into the world. Hope you are finding some time to put up your feet and get some real good sleep in the evenings.
