A Few Of My Favorite Things...

Kelli over at “There Is No Place Like Home is hosting Show and Tell Friday. Mary is also hosting on her blog “Raising 4 Godly Men”, Hop on over to their sites and join in the fun!

This week I have decided to share a few of my favorite things….

My favorite movie, my favorite books and my favorite decorative quote!

Ah! There is nothing like staying at home for real
comfort.”
--Jane Austen

Jane Austen is one of my favorite Authors and though the books are always better then the movie, I have loved the A& E movie versions, in particular the “Pride and Prejudice” mini series. I received the “Pride and Prejudice” A & E special for my birthday about 8 years ago and I hope to get the DVD’s this year too!  My favorite books would be Pride and Prejudice once again and Emma, my favorite picture quote I found at Hallmark many years ago and it sits on my night table.

I hope to one day visit the Jane Austen Center In Bath, England , maybe for our 20th Anniversary we can go back for a visit!

For any of you fellow Jane Austen Fans there is a wonderful new movie coming out in August, “Becoming Jane” you can view the trailer of the movie HERE. The movie has a beautiful soundtrack too! I believe a new made for TV series of all of her movies is also in the works! Stay tuned!!!

Now just for fun

Which Jane Austen Character Are You?

You are Eliza Bennett from Pride and Prejudice! Yay, you! Perhaps the brightest and best character in all of English literature, you are intelligent, lively, lovely-- in short, you are the best of company. Your only foibles are that you stick with your first impressions... and your family is quite intolerable.

Posted by erbcmichele
I was shocked several years ago that my young daughters were interested in the A&E mini-series. We borrowed them one by one from the library. Before we knew it my husband was as hooked as we were!!! He even was the one who bought the DVD set!

I'm a kindred spirit~love all things Jane Austin. The A&E version of Pride and Prejudice~oh my! I don't know how many times I've watched it. I bought the audio book of Pride and Prejudice this year. It is wonderful to listen, too. It just never gets old. So excited to here about all the upcoming movies! Thank you for the links.

I bought two of Jane Austins books. I am hoping this winter to snuggle up near my wood stove and read it. (0= My book list is sooooooooooooooo big and have had NO time to read. I am really trying to solidify my curriculum buying list for 4 boys ! Thank goodness I buy ( to my best ability) non consumable ! I need to buckle down and start composing my entry for your contest. I have always been a reader, but for some reason have never read any of her books. I just watched Pride and Prejudice and Sense and Sensibility in the last couple of months for the first time.

We are huge Jane Austen fans at my house, too. For my daughters high school graduation we took her on a trip to England to trace the steps of her favorite authors. We were in Bath and we went to Chatsworth house in Derbyshire etc. etc. Austen's memorial is in Westminster Abbey at poet's corner and some of her original work is displayed at the British Library in London. I hope you can travel there and see these places. Blessings...

What a lovely collection! I just love that saying!! I took that quiz and came out as Elinor Dashwood. I love all the Austen films I've seen, too, especially Emma, Sense and Sensibility, and Persuasion. I've been reading her books over the last year or so. So far Persuasion is my favorite.

That was a clever idea to share your favorite movie, book, and quote. It tells a lot about a person. I didn't take the quiz because...ummm...I wouldn't know who I was even if it did tell me which character I was. I...uh...haven't seen P&P, except for the hour and a half version my daughter in law and I watched, and...ummm...I forgot what it was about. :-)
There...now you know something about me. I prefer Horatio Hornblower from A&E.
Hey, I saw Allison Bottke on the cover of CWO mag on your sidebar. I met her in May at a writers conference. She was the keynote speaker. I was absolutely BLOWN AWAY by her life testimony! From ashes to glory for sure!

of all places at Wal Mart for $2!

I hope I'm not disappointed. I've seen the movie a couple of times.

It looks like you have a fabulous collection. Is your house Victorian in style, by chance?

I love it! I love Jane Austen, too, and that is also my favorite movie, although my DH never wants to see it again.

I am going to use that quote to make some bookmarks and framed art for Christmas presents! That quote is how I feel, exactly!
