Fall Into Reading 2008: Are You Ready to Read?

Posted in Homeschool

Autumn is crisp days and cool nights, a time to curl up around the dancing flames and sink into a good book. (John Sinor)

 "Happy Fall Y'all!"

It's time for the "Fall Into Reading 2008" challenge over at Callapidder Days!

How time fly's! I feel as though I was just putting this list together a few short months ago. My list will be rather short as I scarcely have time to shower let along read! LOL (Kidding)

On a serious note , most or all of my so called spare time usually falls on The Homeschool Lounge and rightly so. :-)

I do still make the time to read to the boys and we have a nice list of books that we will tackle throughout the year!

This fall we will limit our books to the following...

A Family Guide to Narnia: Biblical Truths in C.S. Lewis's The Chronicles of Narnia by Christin Ditchfield
(We are finishing the above.)

A Family Guide to Prince Caspian by Christin Ditchfield

Farmer Boy Days by Laura Ingalls Wilder

Animal Adventures (Little House Chapter Books) by Laura Ingalls Wilder

The Long Winter (Little House) by Laura Ingalls Wilder

To sit alone in the lamplight with a book spread out before you, and hold intimate converse with men of unseen generations - such is a pleasure beyond compare. ~Kenko Yoshida

“A truly good book teaches me better than to read it. I must soon lay it down, and commence living on its hint. What I began by reading, I must finish by acting.”

~ Henry David Thoreau

Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers. ~Charles W. Eliot

Hugs, Blessings and Happy Reading!

Absolutely loved A Family Guide to Narnia. I also enjoyed the entire Love Comes Softly series. I read them over Christmas break last year over one week. My church library had them all at one time, so I went for it while we didn't have the homeschool commitments.

I really liked reading your blog. Your Family list looks great and I hope to read the chronicles of narnia with my son at some point. He didn't like it the first time we started, so set aside for when he gets older.

Happy Reading!

I think you have a wonderful list, Tiany. The Chronicles of Narnia is one of my favs. I need to dust off some books that have been lying on my shelf since last year so that I can read them. Thanks for the encouragement. :)

Tiany,
I wanted to ask you if you have read Family Driven Faith by Voddie Baucham Jr. I am reading it now, and I ordered an extra copy by accident. I wanted to send it to you if you are interested. I am also reading Passionate Housewives and am really enjoying it thus far!

Hi there! Just popped by from Callapidder Days to check out your reading list. Love Narnia! It's one of my kid's favorite movies...they know exactly which scenes to skip (the scary ones). Enjoy homeschooling your sweet boys! I have 3 precious kiddos that I enjoy 24x7 myself. Blessings & JOY, Amy in OR
