  • Created to be his Helpmeet~ I feel just as strongly about this book as it gives clear and precise wisdom on being a Wife and Helpmeet to your other half! Its a must read!!!
  • Cookie Dough Candle~ from Wally World, smells up the whole house just like fresh baked cookies. A local maker sells them!

There you have it, a few of my favorite things!

For my Blogoversary party I would like to give one of you sweet friends a “Pamper Package”! One Blessed Mama is going to leave this “Girls Only Blogoversary Party” with a gift package full of my favorite things along with a $10 Gift card for Wal-Mart to purchase some of your own!

Anything that would help us "Feel Great in 2008!

Another Year for Thee

Another year is dawning!
Dear Master, let it be,
In working or in waiting,
Another year with Thee!

Another year of leaning
Upon Thy loving breast,
Of even deeper trusting,
Of quiet, happy rest.

Another year of mercies,
Of faithfulness and grace;
Another year of gladness,
In the shining of Thy face.

Another year of progress,
Another year of praise;
Another year of proving
Thy presence "all the days."

Another year of service,
Of witness to Thy love;
Another year of training
For holier work above.

Another year is dawning!
Dear Master, let it be,
On earth, or else in heaven,
Another year for Thee!

HTML Help and Tips!

Posted in Daily Tips

Im afraid some of you will be a bit disappointed with this post because it does not have all the answers to your html questions because “I” don’t have all the answers!  I have been putting this post together for a few weeks now and still it is not complete but this is a good place to start!

This post might take you a while to get through; I will have it linked on my right sidebar for easy access.

I think everyone wants a quick “How To” or “Happy meal” version of a blog template but its just not that easy. It is all time consuming and in order to really grasp anything about templates or html, you are going to just have to take the time to study it for yourself. What? No time? Well that’s where the pros come in; you can always pay someone to hook your blog up for ya

I actually have no idea what I am doing when it comes to html, I have been studying and working on blog templates and website design for a little over 3 years now and still I feel completely ignorant when it comes to this stuff.

The biggest question concerns templates, how to change them. I have had numerous requests with help to change the template to a 3-column template. I received help with my template and it still took me months to get it where it is now. My blog partly looks the way it does due to many mishaps, guesswork and hours and hours of fiddling. Im not even sure what I did where to get it the way it looks.

I do not have basic html to give out for the 3-column template, im sorry. I tried to help poor Mary aka Canadagirl get a 3 column with my template and I ended up with half of my blog on her blog (pregnancy ticker and all) LOL It was a while ago. I received help from a friend, she gave me the basic structure and a handful of ladies got it to where it is today.

I do believe Mary and the other ladies have mastered the 3-column template all on their own. Mary if you have the html to share im sure these ladies would greatly appreciate it! J

Now for a list of ladies that DO know what they are doing and CAN help with the 3-column template

Ali aka Aligirl has been helping out ladies all over HSB and her blogs are beautiful!!! Ali is more then willing to help you HSB ladies out go visit her at her blog HERE or at her Template blog HERE!

Kylie has a blog tips blog HERE; she can help out with problems or help put together a blog for you.

And the following is mainly directing you to where I have learned everything I know. Like I said it just takes reading the information and learning it for yourself. In order not to be redundant I will link to these sites pages instead of retyping all of their directions.

Each blog host will have different templates and formats to work with so I will have certain sites below that are specific to a certain blogging host such as “Blogger” or “HSB”.

Graphics & Websets

There are so many wonderful sites to share that there is really no point in listing the many Graphic places here. To find graphics you can search on Google  (same with Blinkies)

Always look at the bottom sidebars of your favorite blogs or sites to see who made the graphics. More times then not all the graphic artists used will be listed with links to their sites such as in my lower left side bar.

The best advice I can give is to study your template, look at everything , every word of it! You will begin to see where things can be changed such as background colors, links and so on.

Ok that’s all for now folks. I will add things as they come up or as I remember them.

If you have any blog or html questions now is the time to come on out and ask away!!!

If you have anything at all to add to this please leave me note in the comments as well!

I hope this has helped some of you understand things a bit better or at least point you in the right direction!

Oh and before I forget!!!

Blogging Etiquette

Posted in Daily Tips

I have made plenty of my own bloggy mistakes and etiquette blunders since starting two years ago, so please know this post is for me too, I do not profess to be a “Blog Etiquette Expert”!

I have gathered this information from reading over the past few months as this as been a topic that has been on my mind for some time, unfortunately there is hardly any info on the net about blog Etiquette thus the reason for me putting together this post. If you have anything to add to this, anything at all you would like to share about blog etiquette please do share in the comments!

Now I will share with you all what I think to be the biggest Do’s and Don’ts’ in the bloggy world as far as Etiquette is concerned…

Borrowing, Stealing, swiping, copying…Call it what you like…

Do not get offended or “bothered” when you have found others have copied or taken ideas from your blog, might I say even “Stolen” images or template info. Imitation is the best form of flattery.

Do Give it willingly and without question, its far better then starting a quarrel and making everyone involved feel awkward and icky. There is no point in getting upset over others trying to duplicate your blog, take it as a complement and focus on making your own blog a comfortable home for you! Warm and inviting to your readers! I do focus on the look of my blog but the content is most important!

I will be posting on some template & Html help next Tuesday if all goes as planned!

Do not steal/take!
When you go to visit a blog it is the same as walking into someones living room, would you start grabbing stuff and take it home with out asking? When it comes to copy write infringement one must be careful and of course we all know it is not right to steal, that goes for the Internet too! Many of the graphics on these blogs and or sites have been purchased and are not to be given away, some require a link back to the Graphic artist, and many Bloggers have worked and studied tirelessly to “figure it all out ~ Html” so remember to just ASK!

Do not hotlink to images. Not only are you stealing bandwidth, someone now has “control” over your blog. They can replace their image that will suddenly display on your blog. Down load the image to your computer save it and use a photo host to publish the graphic to your computer. (More about this in my next post about HTML)

Do ASK! More times then not a person will be more then happy to either “give” you the info you are looking for, graphic, html, etc. or they will direct you to where you can find it.

 Common Courtesy

Do remember to use “The Hat Tip”

Directing your readers to the “source” of your post, graphic, etc.. It allows your readers to visit the “source” should they so choose and gives the original source the credit! I have learned this along the way too!

DO Take responsibility not just for your own words, but also for the comments you allow on your blog.

Do leave comments that are related to the post, some have said they don't like repeated or short comments such as “Great post” or “Me too’ etc,,, I personally don’t mind those it lets me know someone is reading and can relate!

Do delete inappropriate comments from your own blog. It's your home on the web; you set the tone for your blog!

Do respond when folks comment on your blog!!! I ALWAYS try to jump over and visit those that have visited me; especially those that read and comment often, its just common decency folks, this isn’t Rocket Science! If someone is leaving comment after comment and you don’t say two words in response eventually they will stop visiting. Or might feel as though they are being ignored. It’s kinda like calling a person over and over and they refuse to call you back. Kinda Rude!! I can imagine it almost seems arrogant too.

I have to admit there have been many times I have read a comment in the 2 seconds I had  in between feeding children, changing a diaper or stopping a fight and I read and run and forget to respond then I cant remember when or where the person left a comment.

I APOLOGIZE to those of you that have left me a comment and I did not respond to you or answer your question. I can honestly say I have never ever purposely ignored anyone's comment on my blog nor would I EVER, if I did not comment back or answer a question it was only due to forgetfulness.  I really do wish I could reply to every single comment left in a timely fashion. The same with Mr. Linky, how I wish I could comment on all your blogs in a timely fashion but I just cant, I physically cannot due to the responsibilities I have here at home. If 20 to 30 of you have linked there is just no way for me to get to visit you all in that same day but I will get there eventually! J I will also usually respond to a comment or question in the same post that the question or comment has been made. (Faster and easier)

I hope to get the comments part of my blogging better organized so that I can keep track of who has commented or asked a question that needs answering.  I plan on doing a Q&A next week God willing! If you have a question or I have not answered your question feel free to ask away in the comments of this post.

Do come out of “hiding”, instead of calling you a lurker we will call you a “Silent Angel” (don’t remember where I read that term) If you have been reading on someones blog for a while and you have been encouraged, blessed or just enjoy your visit post a comment and say hello! A blogger will always appreciate you coming out to say hello, it lets the blogger know someone out there is reading and can relate J This is especially important to encourage New Bloggers.

So that’s all I have right now, if you have anything to add please do so below!

Now, for Etiquette in general here is a fabulous book to read "FREE" on line!

Etiquette in Society, in Business, in Politics and at Home!

"Ode To Summer"

Posted in Daily Tips

Southerners drink iced tea year-round, and have been drinking iced tea since the 19th century when ice became generally available. If you order tea in a restaurant in the South you'll get iced tea - probably sweetened, so if you want it hot or unsweetened, you'd better say so!

Best Southern Sweet Tea

3 family size tea bags ( I use Luzianne Tea Bags )
2 cups of cold water
1 cup of sugar
pinch of  baking soda

Place tea bags in cold water and bring to a boil... As soon as it starts to boil  remove from the heat  (at this point I add a pinch of soda to the tea... This makes it darker and removes any bitterness) ... place  tight fitting lid on pot and steep tea for about 10  to 15 minutes... In a gallon container, place the sugar and enough hot  water to dissolve the sugar , making a  sugar syrup...  After tea has steeped, pour into the sugar water  and stir well... Add water to make 1 gallon....

Raspberry Mint Iced Tea

This is a refreshing raspberry and mint-flavored iced tea.

Prep: 10 min - Stand: 10 min

4 cups boiling water
5 tea bags
1/4 cup mint leaves, crushed
1/4 cup sugar
1 (32-ounce) bottle cran-raspberry beverage
Ice
Fresh raspberries, if desired
Lemon slices, if desired

Pour boiling water over tea bags and mint in 2-quart heat-proof pitcher. Let stand 10 minutes.

Remove tea bags and mint. Add sugar and cran-raspberry drink; stir until sugar is dissolved. Serve over ice; garnish with raspberries and lemon slices, if desired.

Makes 8 (8-ounce) servings
