How does she do It? ~ Resisting the “Perfect Mom Syndrome”

I apologize for the length of this post, my writing is not the best, I don't always get my point across well and my words are far from flowery and pleasant to read so if you get through this or if you want to get through this you deserve a metal and a hug!

I was going to start with my Daily snap shots but I decided this message was the most important and therefore should be the first!

Just a blog!

You cannot possibly see or know what is going on in the lives of these ladies or my life for that matter from reading a blog. You’re getting a glimpse, a fraction of our day out of 24 hours!!!. No two days are EVER the same and though my lists are up on this here blog, it does not mean that I am successfully getting it all done! I guess I should have added a disclaimer to not freak anyone out thinking I am one of those super moms!

So many mommy blogs make life look peachy and glorious, easy as pie! I probably do it too but it is not because I mean to sugar coat life. I do believe life is bliss; it is fabulous it is wonderful and beautiful but it can also be difficult, hard, tiresome, frustrating, disappointing, and sometimes confusing!

I happen to be one of those gals that gets over a negative feeling, situation or trial pretty quickly, I would say 30 minutes tops and “I am over it” no more thinking about it, drudging over it, I give it to the Lord and as they say “I am too blessed to be stressed”.

I could go on and on about my not so fabulous days but honestly by the time I go to blog that is the last thing on my mind! I have so many other wonderful things on my mind to share and by 10:00pm the day’s worries have long passed!

Please note that   I am not judging or looking down upon anyone that does share  trials or problems  on their blog, it can be a blessing  to use your blog as an outlet to “Get it off your chest”! Don’t feel guilty for being honest, transparent and wanting some encouragement from your blogging sisters, that's also what we are here for!

Reading blogs should not be about measuring up. We should gather morsels of wisdom, learn new ways of doing things, we should always strive to become better mothers, wives, sisters, friends and daughters! It is our job to do so, God does not want us stagnant nor does he want us to beat ourselves up for not being good enough “RIGHT NOW!” Gods grace is sufficient for the areas in which we lack, he knows our Hearts and that is all that really matters! That we continue to try, reach, stretch to become the mothers we want to be, that we learn all we can to make life more enjoyable for our ourselves and for our families.

When I visit blogs I see myself as a speedy little squirrel gathering acorns (nuggets) of wisdom, peace, joy and strength. I visit different blogs for different reasons, to gain biblical wisdom, to have a laugh, to smile, to pray etc.. It should be a blessing not a curse!

If reading other blogs makes you depressed because you cant stack up or be just like her and do exactly what she does and have children just like hers, I am going to boldly give you some heart to heart advice, STOP READING BLOGS!!!

When we take our eyes off of the Lord and start looking to outside sources for our worth and satisfaction it is time to do a major reality check!!! Do your best for your family! Period! We are not robots or carbon copies of each other, GOD made us each beautifully and uniquely different!!!

I can imagine it is exhausting, depressing, frustrating and somewhat foolish to compare yourself to others that “seem” to have it all together and “seem” like the perfect mom. There is no such thing, we all every one of us has our own imperfections!

I want to do my best at everything but not to match up to someone else. I want to be the best I can be  for the Lord, for Troy and for my boys! We should do everything as unto the Lord!

My next post will be that snap shot of my days, one will be the normal day and one will be this past Monday where everything that could have gone wrong did!

I am getting to bed early tonight; we have a big day tomorrow at the firetruck making plant with our homeschool group!

Orderly Mom Notebook

I have been getting quite a bit of email in regards to the "Orderly Mom Notebook" I sell. I have received many questions and so I hope to clarify and answer a few of those questions here.

You can read the description of the notebook HERE on its original site. The original URL "Orderlymom.com" is no longer directing to the site and the paypal button on the site is disabled. I stopped making the binders when Noah was born because it became much too time consuming and Troy thought it was best.

With the beginning of a new homeschool year I have had many requests for notebooks and so I have decided to begin selling them again for a limited time. As I have said before I am not making them for the money , it is a service and I enjoy helping out moms that for whatever reason can not put one together themselves. With that said please view my post "How to Make A binder" HERE if you would like to make one yourself.

If you would like to order an "Orderly Mom Notebook" aka Home Management Notebook please click on the button below to pay with Paypal. The notebook is $28 and includes S&H.

The Notebooks I am putting together come in the following binder colors...blue, white, purple or black with a clear cover to add the picture of your choice OR  pastel pink, green or blue with white flowers on the cover.

If there are any questions not answered here please feel free to contact me tiany@cox.net

P.S. Thank you all very much for the very kind comments and notes you have left about the new Graphics, I appreciate it!!!

50 HOUSEWORK AND TIME MANAGEMENT TIPS

Troy just left to run some quick errands, Micah is out and about with his "Mimi" today (again). I don't mind Micah spending some weekends with his Grandmother, She enjoys his company. She is a lovely God fearing Woman and loves her Grandchildren  more then anything in the world, as does Troys Dad! They have fun together and its good for Micah to get a little one on one time with her. The other boys are not ready to be away from me for so long and so they decline to go each time.

Noah is napping and Ashton and Dominick are having a snack and watching
"Discovery's Kids "The Ultimate Guide To The Awesome" ~ "Whales"  We record the good ones and watch them on the weekend because they are so long, 1 hour shows.

Well I am off to prep dinner and wash rugs (Fun fun) Hope you all are having a lovely Saturday!!!

Here is a little something I wanted to share with you all, that I have in my notebook! I stick one in my
"Orderly Mom" notebooks too!

50 HOUSEWORK AND TIME MANAGEMENT TIPS FOR BUSY MUMS

Written by Delwyn McAlister

1.      Make out a daily / weekly schedule and try to stick to it.

2.      Involve children in household chores.

3.      If you don’t have time for early morning quiet times you could meditate on one or two verses that you have pinned up on your fridge or near your kitchen work area.

4.      Make your schedule your servant not your master.

5.      Take your phone off the hook if you want a rest.

6.      Have regular chore time each day so that children get used to the routine.

7.      Cook two meals at a time and eat tone and freeze the other.

8.      Don’t try to do too much – you’re not super mum!

9.      Don’t be too fussy – you may have to lower your standards (as far as housework goes.)

10. Make out a list of things to do in order of importance.

11. Remember that the Bible says: I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

12. Go for a brisk walk every day.

13. Remember this: Each day is a gift from God, that’s why it is called the present.

14. Clean up the kitchen and dining area directly after meals.

15. Ensure that all members of the family have a rest time every day.

16. Eat a healthy diet.

17. Don’t compare your family with others. Your family is unique: You don’t have to live up to other people’s expectations.

18. Send your children to bed early and spend the evening with your husband – he needs you.

19. Trust in the Lord, He never fails.

20. Do a load of washing in the evening so it can be hung out early in the morning.

21. Put your favorite music on while doing the housework.

22. Family devotions each morning helps to keep things in focus.

23. Do outdoor chores (such as gardening) as a team – and perhaps reward the workers with an ice-cream.

24. Clean your bathroom sink whilst you are cleaning your teeth.

25. Play a game or have a competition while doing the chores with the children.

26. Be a ‘keeper at home’ and try not to go out too much.

27. Take time to play with your children – you will be amazed at how willing they are to help you if you have devoted some of your time to play with them.

28. Limit the amount of women’s meetings, coffee mornings and play group sessions that you go to.

29. Write all appointments on a calendar.

30. Enlist the children to fold the washing and to put it away.

31. Learn to say ‘no’ to others – family comes first.

32. Pray for the members of the family as you iron their clothes.

33. Clean the shower while you are having a shower.

34. Keep a list of things to do at the shops and go only once a week.

35. Teach your children this: ‘Don’t put it down, put it away’.

36. Reward and thank your children for their help.

37. Have an open Bible in your kitchen and read a few verses while you are working in the kitchen.

38. Clean kitchen, lounge, dining room, bathroom and toilet first – you can always shut the bedroom doors and clean them later.

39. Teach the older children to wash and dress the younger ones.

40. Ensure that friends and relatives know the times when it’s unsuitable for them to visit (ie: lesson time, rest time etc…).

41. Do all things without grumbling and complaining.

42. Enlist an independent midwife for your maternity care. They usually do home visits as apposed to you having to visit the doctor on a regular basis.

43. Be patient and help your children with the chores that they find difficult.

44. Hum, sing or whistle whilst doing your work – it creates a happy atmosphere.

45. If you are spending more that 2 hours per day doing the lessons, you are probably doing far more than the state school. One teacher estimates that teaching the children actually only takes up 25% of the school day!

46. Make children responsible for keeping their own bedrooms tidy.

47.You are not a taxi service! Train your children to be contented at home.

48.During rest time pin a note to the door saying ‘Mother and children resting please do not disturb’.

49.If you get behind in your housework pay for someone to come in   and do some for you. (Women’s Division of Federated Farmers provide a Nation wide service – usually costs aprox $11 per hour).

50.Remember that you are first a wife, then a mother and then a homemaker – keep these priorities in order!
