"Taylor" Made Home School
Sep. 9, 2008 - The New School Year
I have been looking forward to the school year. The summer seemed to have crept by. We needed more structure than the carefree days of summer had to offer.
I am pleased to say that the school year has started off great. We are using Rod and Staff. I know, I know Rod and Staff has a ton of work, it is boring, and there is not much creative touch to it. But I have made it my own and it is fun and we do have our crafty days. (supplements) I would have used something else, but my Madison likes it. She wants the worksheets and textbooks. And she excels at all her work. Praise God.
Co-ops start in two weeks. We are excited about that. Madison loves co-ops. She learns so much there. We have such a great group of women there. What I like about this school is that the whole family is involved, not just the moms. Dads have taught shop, wood working, paint ball, and such. We are blessed to have this option for us.

Feb. 12, 2007 -
I found this while I was browsing blogs on Homestead bloogger. It is about a PBS show on Homeschooling. I missed it. I am sorry I missed it. But according to this it was just not very accurate in some respects. So go read Kim"s blog it will give you something to think about. It did me. I need to go through my World magazines and find the one I missed. I cannot believe I missed the article. |

Nov. 29, 2006 - I am adding more....
copy work to my dd's schedule. I was thinking that she needed more copywork. But wasn't too sure. I was visiting Jessica's site and she was listing off what she had her sweet ones doing. I decieded on more copywork.
I was also fooling around with the curriculum I am going to do next year. I was going to put together my own this year....Actually I did put one together. Hubby talked me out of it. He is new at this. So he si leary of what to do. But I definately had my convictions confirmed that next year will be what I put together. I see what she needs. So I will get what she needs. I love homeschooling! She is such a great student. Of course we do have our days. I do not want to sound like I am in some kind of dream world. But for the most part we are blessed with good days.
I really want to teach her Latin next year. I would have started her this year, but like I said hubby talked be out of it. I am probably going to start her next semester. And work with that through the summer. That sounds good! ~smile ~
I hope you all have a wonderful day!

Oct. 7, 2006 - Oh My!!
I haven't posted in a bit. I have been busy I am trying to manage my time better. It is a trying experience for me. I have been waking up earlier and that has helped tremendously. I am trying to get down a schedule so I can have my time with the Lord and computer time before dd wakes up. I have been waking up at 5:30. I look at the clock and Oh my it is early! I need to get over it. It really is not that early. Well I am learning.
Friday, I went to Glen Ivy Hot Springs Spa. That was a lot of fun! I enjoyed it. Though I did wish my dd and hubby were there. I like to be with them when I am enjoying things. I did feel a bit selfish. But it was a birthday present from last year from my Fil and SMil so I had to enjoy it, Right!
Today is catch up with cleaning day. So far so good. I am taking a break and then I will get back to it.
School is going well. I did have to get easier books for dd to read. She used to be in advanced readers with Sonlight. Then last year I used something else and now she is not ready for the advanced readers in Sonlight. I ordered the intermediate level for her. That should work. She used to be such a great reader and loved reading books. I really regret changing curriculums last year. But now I know what I must do.Hind sight is always 20/20!
I need to got feed my DD! Have a great weekend.

Sep. 20, 2006 - Evolutionists Target Children
The title says it all. Evolutionists are targeting all our children. The National Science Foundation gave a $2.5 million grant to the New york Hall of Science to start a "Life Changes" program to prepare our young children to understand the scientific basis of evolution. Guess who is paying for it? That is right! We are! They have traveling "science" exhibits designed to teach young children in America that Evlution is fact. That the evolution of man as a non-living matter. They have their guns loaded and are running this across America. This is an article in the Answers Update Newsletter. To recieve this newsletter go to www.answersingenesis.org. I do not think they have archivees for this.
They have a new book out called "Evolution Exposed" by Roger Patterson, this is their explaination of it: This illustrated expose' reveals and refutes every instance of evolution in America's most popular biology textbooks. A true eye-opener for teens, teachers and parents. They are having "Research Paper Challenge 2007" you could win $5o,ooo scholarship! So go check out the website.
Unfortunately, this is one of our battles being Christians and homeschooling parents. This is something that is going to need lots of prayer! . These evolutionists do not want our Christian beliefs forced on their children they should do us the same courtesy. I believe we need to get the word out.
I am not good at writing and evaluating articles I have read. So I hope this does not confuse people. It is something that gets my goat and I do not want it forced on our children.

Sep. 11, 2006 - Multum non Multa, Much not Many
Sep. 7, 2006 - Another School Year Started....
and very successfully I may add! I will be changing curriculum up in about a month. So I cannot wait for that. What I have now is not working for us. So I made it work. And we get enjoyment from learning and have no headaches. Or as my DD would put it "No one is throwing a fit!"
We have had a good summer. But the last two weeks were getting a little boring!! So when this week arived my dd and I were excited. I know I could have started early. I had planned to, but my dh didn't want that to happen. Well I need to go and finish with baking.
Have a good day!!
