It has been several months since I've had the opportunity to write on my blog! So much has happened, from getting engaged, to being married... then moving and traveling! It's a blessing to be settling down again...
God has been so faithful to me! Jere and I are extremely happy and we rejoice in the fact that God miraculously brought us together. It is so wonderful to see His hand move on our behalf and answer the prayers we've so longed to be fulfilled.
I look forward to sharing online what the Lord lays on my heart, as He grants me the time to do so. ;) I've missed sharing with you all here! I'm sure there are many new friends to be found on Homeschoolblogger, since I've been gone! Please do feel free to leave me a comment; I'd love to hear from you!
Blessings in Jesus!

• Mar. 21, 2006 - The Little Garden
We've had quite interesting weather at our home. I was so excited to see the first day of spring right around the corner, only to wake up the next day to snow! So, I grabbed my camera and headed out to take some pictures to share with you. I hope you enjoy them, as well as the little story I found this afternoon.
Blessings!
Emilee

The Little Garden...
An exceprt from Memory- the Handmaid of Hope by Charles Spurgeon.
A child had a little garden in which she planted many flowers, but they never grew. She put them in, as she thought tenderly and carefully, but they would not live. She sowed seeds and they sprang up; but very soon they withered away.

So she ran to her father's gardener, and when he came to look at it, he said, "I will make it a nice garden for you, that you may grow whatever you want." He fetched a pick, and when the little child saw the terrible pick, she was afraid for her little garden. The gardener struck his tool into the ground and began to make the earth heave and shake for his pickaxe had caught the edge of a huge stone which underplayed almost all the little plot of ground. All the little flowers were turned out of their places and the garden spoiled for a season so that the little maid wept much. He told her he would make it a fair garden yet, and so he did, for having removed that stone which had prevented all the plants from striking root he soon filled the ground with flowers which lived and flourished.

Just so, the Lord has come, and has turned up all the soil of your present comfort to get rid of some big stone that was at the bottom of all your spiritual prosperity, and would not let your soul flourish. Do not weep with the child, but be comforted by the blessed results and thank your Father’s tender hand!

• Mar. 20, 2006 - Pictures of Jesus...
Posted By Emilee
I thought this article by Charles Spurgeon had a lot of truth! As homeschooling families it is important that Christ is what others see in the home. Sure, not every day is going to be perfect, but a heart that is striving to follow Christ is hidden in His love. His grace is all sufficient for those less than perfect days. :)
"And they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus." Acts 4:13
A Christian should be a striking likeness of Jesus Christ... the best life of Christ is His living biography, written out in the words and actions of His people.
If we were what we profess to be, and what we should be, we would be pictures of Jesus; yes, such striking likenesses of Him, that the world would, when they once beheld us, exclaim, "He has been with Jesus; he has been taught of Him; he is like Him; he has caught the very idea of the holy Man of Nazareth, and he works it out in his life and daily actions."
A Christian should be like Christ in his boldness. Never blush to own your religion. Be like Jesus, very valiant for your God.
Imitate Him in your loving spirit; think kindly, speak kindly, and do kindly, that men may say of you, "He has been with Jesus!"
Imitate Jesus in His holiness.
Was He zealous? So be ever going about doing good. Let not time be wasted; it is too precious.
Was He self-denying, never looking to His own interest? Be the same.
Was He devout? Be fervent in your prayers.
Had He deference to His Father's will? So submit yourselves to Him.
Was He patient? So learn to endure.
And best of all, as the highest portraiture of Jesus, try to forgive your enemies, as He did; and let those sublime words of your Master, "Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do," always ring in your ears. Forgive, as you hope to be forgiven....
...so live that all may say of you, "He has been with Jesus!"
"And they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus." Acts 4:13 |

• Mar. 18, 2006 - Healthy Habits
Posted By Mrs. Amanda C.
Well, I'm not trying to Low/No carb it anymore. I've actually lost 2
lbs since last month, just eating more fresh fruits and veggies. (Today
was a back slide day, but tomorrow I'll be right back on). Also this
week I've started Billy Blanks Boot camp. Oye! Its so hard! I'm a yoga
mama, lets just say, I'm never joining the military! I have allot of
respect for those that have gone through real boot camp. My wonderful DH
says that's what they do all day for 6 weeks... 1 hour a day is hard
enough for me. So
I'm switching off each day the 1 hour video on day, and a 30 minute ab
video and 30 minutes on my treadmill. It about killed me trying to do
both, as out of shape as I am.
So My wonderful Dh Bought my Lizzy (3 yrs old) some phonics flash
cards. She likes them. But I'm afraid to push her to hard. So being as
she's only 3, when she starts getting fidgety and loses interest, I
get her to do something else. We also got her some big toddler, "Go
Fish" cards.
She's so cute. She throws her arms in the air and yells "Let's Go
Fish!" I love it. She also love to play house. She's always "the mom",
and Dad's are "the honey" and kids are "the sweetie". My niece was over
last weekend, and asked my husband why he doesn't do dishes. My sweet
little Lizzy answered (laughing) "Dad's don't do dishes! Dad's go to
work. " (Such sweetness, huh?)
I make it very clear to my relatives and friends that I'm not a
feminist. And if they are to leave it at my front door, cause no one
will come in my husbands home and disrespect him. I actually almost
threw my niece's best friend out because of it, but lucky for her she
corrected her attitude quickly. I do enjoy my MIL trying to give my
husband chores though. Not because I want him put to work but because I
love how she gets all worked up when he doesn't do it, lol. She tries
to get him to get the kids ready (when I'm already doing it by the way,
lol) and he tells her that I'm doing it (smiling quite wickedly I might
add) and she practically froths at the mouth, lol. She's a major
feminazi. lol. Its mean, but we think of it as slowly de-programing
her, lol.
Don't get me wrong! If I need help, knight in shinning armor that he is, he always comes to my rescue.
But I don't like my husband having to come home from work and just
start working all over again. Its bad enough his school nights are on
work days. He really needs a break, and coming home to a clean, non
chaotic, place of rest and relaxation does his life wonders.
So we will be married 2 year on the 31st this month. I just can't wait to say we've been married 50 + years. He's so wonderful!!
Love
Amanda C.

• Feb. 1, 2006 - Where Is The Music?
Posted By Emilee

I love the old time movies where morality isn’t muddled, the bad guys are caught and the hero rides off into the sunset! Ah, those were the days when families could go to the theater and not blush by what they saw!
In those old movies it’s always easy to spot the villain, if it isn’t by his wardrobe of solid black from head to toe, it’d be by the dramatic music that followed him like a shadow. He may try to be appealing to our story’s hero, but as the viewers watch they know that the music betrays who he really is. In the end, our hero wises up and life goes on happily ever after.
I got to thinking one afternoon, where’s the music in my life? Come on, let’s be honest friends, we’ve all been in situations in life where we weren’t sure if it was of the Lord or not. Wouldn’t it be nice if when we were in that situation we heard the music—a kind of personal orchestra of harmonizing encouragement or warning? Be it the beautiful harmonies that play during the pleasant scenes or even the booming music that accompanies the bad guy? Either way, it’d be nice to clearly know… right?
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me… John 10:27
As I pondered those thoughts I’m reminded that I have something even better. I have the Lord whose word is the music of my soul! If I quiet myself and listen in those times of questioning I will hear His voice—it’s a promise He’s given to all His children!
The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing. Zephaniah 3:17
When our heart’s desire is to be in the center of God’s will, we don’t have to be afraid that we will be out of His will, because He promises to give us the desires of our heart. It’s that simple!
Love in Messiah!
