No School

Monkey (M): Staying home with Mama until we hear of when his meeting at local Developmental Preschool is.

MrMagoo (MM): First day of Kindergarten at a local Christian school.  Read more about that by clicking here and here.  At the end of the day he was overtired but very excited.  He just could not wait to show us all his papers!  Meltdown occured within 20 minutes of arriving home and did not end until story time that night.

Minniemee (MME): First day of 3rd grade at "Walnut Grove Elementary".  This is what my husband has determined Minniemee should call our school this year since we are using the "Prairie Primer"  and it is based on the series of books written by Laura Ingalls Wilder.

We got a late start due to Mama's forgetting that we would be staying with MM through his first morning.  Mama also failed to allow time in the afternoon for M's OT visit...ugh...so this day ended up behind from the get go.

7:30-8:00 MME reads ch 1 of Little House in the Big Woods (LHBW)

9:30-10:15 Bible reading.  Psalm 91.  Copy work of Psalm 91.  vs 1-2 onto index card for preparation of memorization by end of week 6.

10:15-10:45 Discussion of Prayer Journal, topics written down, people written in to pray for. Topics are: Salvation, Healing, Blessings, Praises, Personal Requests and Always Pray For...

Prayer on our knees.

10:45-11:00 Snack

11:00-11:15 free time

11:15-12:00 Lunch

12:00-1:00 M's OT visit

1:00-3:00 M's nap

1:00-1:45 MME math review

1:45-2:00 free time

2:00-2:30 Questions from ch. 1 LHBW.

Discussion on Biography vs Autobiography

Discussion of food preservation

Discussion and picture viewing of trundle bed, leather, venison, lard.

2:30-3:00 MME read ch 1 of Great Horn Spoon

MME did great today with minimal upset.  She was overwhelmed by having to write out the entire Psalm 91 so we broke it up into several days.  This alleviated her and me and we returned to happy work.

Monkey (M): He has done surprisingly well with allowing me to give instruction to Minnie and not have to cater to his every whim or him getting so jealous that his is disruptive and destructive.  He has even sat at his table and done some line tracing and color crayon work...learning colors.

MrMagoo (MM): Did a great job of getting up again and getting dressed and doing all that he is asked to do in the morning without complaint.

As we approached his school in the morning he told me he did not want me to  walk him into his meeting tent...he could do it himself...part of me was so sad...I like being a part of his morning this way...another part was so proud of the little man he is becoming.

Upon picking up from school we had a meltdown in the car I had taken his folder out of his back pack and he wanted to do it.  Arriving home it got no better.  His fatigue levels are astounding and he just isn't able to process it at home.

Minnimee (MME):

This morning we also were late getting going because I decided to get to the library to get the last of the books we needed for the current week and next week.  They were closed for another hour.  So, we would have to come back after MM gets out of school. UGH!

7:30-8:00 MME reads ch. 2 of LHBW

9:45-10:15 Bible reading.  Psalm 91.  Copywork vs 3-4. and read Proverbs 18:10.  Discussed how the bible teaches us to be safe.  Also discussed how Laura's pa was so important to her by reading Malachi 4:6.

10:15-10:30 Prayer with the prayer journal

10:30-10:45 Snack

10:45-11:45 Discussed Questions about ch. 2

Began research on song "Yankee Doodle"

Wrote out history on blackboard.  MME did copy work...1/2 done.

Sang "Yankee Doodle" several times (whoo)

11:45-12:30 Lunch

12:30-2:30 M nap

12:30-1:00 MME read ch. 2 Great Horn Spoon.

1:00-1:45 Discuss the joy of chores.  Brainstormed the joy of chores for MME.

1:45-2:30 Discussed metaphor vs similie.  Learned the word "literary"

Discussed that the ability to understand different bible concepts and academic concepts comes from growth and development and experience.

I've discovered that it takes us quite some time to accomplish certain tasks.  I'm not sure what I'll do...either remove some of the activities or spread them out further...

Monkey (M): Today was another good day for him.  He and MM had a major bicker in the morning and neither one handled it very well.  They were both put into reset for about 15 minutes.

MrMagoo (MM): As said above the morning was going well until the bicker between M and MM.  MM was sent off with love and prayers.  He again had a major meltdown about wanting to show me his work while I'm driving us home.  I told him we would wait until we arrived at home so that I could see if the teacher wanted any papers back (his folder has a "keep" side and a "return" side...he has already mixed those up due to excitement!).  Could not get past wanting to show me now.

His papers are reflecting excellent attitude in school and that he clearly finds his current work too easy.  I know this will change in a few months.

Minniemee (MME):

7:30-8:00 MME read ch 3 Great Horn Spoon

9:00-9:30 Bible Reading. Psalm 91. Copywork vs 5-7.

9:30-9:45 Prayer.  Discussion of the importance of not rushing through...taking time to listen to God too...and then praying that back to the Lord.

9:45-10:45 Activities: Drew Laura's imagery of Jack Frost.

Finished up the history timeline of "Yankee Doodle"
