Delight Yourself In The Lord

• Jan. 25, 2008 - Have You Been Hearing This Line

You have a young family and people say you think this is hard wait until they're older. You are quite fearful of this statement and can't really imagine it can be harder then a screaming, tantrum throwing 2 yr old. Well let me just inform you I have a 17 yr old and a 2 yr old so I feel I am now at both ends of the parenting stick and I have to say I agree with them . There are similaties though, they both do not want to be told no, they both have to be told no for their own good, they both think their Mum is mean for saying no, they both would like to try and throw a tantrum to Mum saying no and Mum is very warn out by both of them

Seriously though I am shocked that I am here with a 17 yr old, it came around too quick and I want to press stop and I want to go back a couple of yrs or fast forward. This is it though and I don't want to question God on having our children grow up it seems to have kept the population of the world going. It has been a challenging time for me, and a time of saddness, he is reaching the last stretch of schooling, he is applying for jobs. After being with this child everyday mostly for the last 17 yrs  there are going to be changes and I'm going to miss him so much. It is a difficult adjustment but it is one that has to be made. So if you could please pray for me as I am facing a few parenting challenges at the moment, thank you.

I have prayed for you. I can't even imagine that right now. Our oldest will be 13 in August, and I'm having a hard enough time with that idea. But I do pray that the Lord continues to show you what He has for you, and the direction you all should be going in. :)

How well I understand what you are going through! I have a 16 year old and a one year old and am constantly amazed at the similarities!
I'm especially thankful that they both seem to require more sleep than I do, which gives me a bit of respite :D

you can always cure their problems by giving them a younger sibling. It sorts out the 2 year old and gives the 17 year old something to do :)

I understand what you're feeling. My baby is now 16 and she is starting college on Monday. My son is 5 and just started first grade. Many challenges and the future is scary.

I will be praying for you. I too, know how it feels to see your child spreading their wings to fly. It is awesome though to see them sprout and grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord. He won't forget about his mum, so hang in there. Have a wonderful weekend.

Blessings,
Lori

It has to happen, yet we mums try not to think of it happening until it is unavoidable. I still have a few more years of denial ahead. And you have many, many more with your baby William. Heartstrings stretch until they almost break. Oh, no, now I am going to cry. *sniff*

A teen agers vocabulary and a two year olds vocabulary is the same, NO, Mine and I want!
They both also go through seperation anxiety. One when mommie leaves the room, and the other when she doesn't.

I do not think I could have done both at the same time. GOD BLESS YOU MIGHTILY!

I have a 17yos too and it does make me sad sometimes thinking about the changes coming my way. One day I told him I might homeschool him through college. I don't think he was too excited about that idea. :)

Hebrews 4:12 & 13

• For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.
