Where are the fruits of the Spirit?

Turkey Burgers and Mac & Cheese

When I was still a block away from the house, I can see 2 fire engines, an ambulance and several of our town’s finest parked on my street.  The lights reflecting off all the water in the street.  Because of the rain, our creek is flooding and is moving quickly.  Children tend to congregate around fast moving water.  As I am reaching for my cell phone, I keep thinking to myself that surely our sweet nanny would call me if one of the children was in the water.  I could just see my Wild Man walking on top of the rails to get a closer look at the rapids in the creek.

I round the bend and can tell that the flashing lights are not in front of my house….whew!

I carefully work my way around the emergency vehicles and gather enough information to know that no human beings were in danger or hurt and I hurry to my house.

As I approach the front door, I can hear the smoke alarms going off & children screaming…only to open the door to see children screaming with laughter.

Opening windows (during the torrential downpour of rain) to let the smoke out – our sweet nanny suggests I fire her for the mess – NO WAY!

It is nice to have someone else burn dinner for a change!

Quotes from a Princess

Last week The Princess was wearing mismatched clothes and dancing wildly in the kitchen while waiting for dinner.

I asked her  "Where did you come from?"

Her immediate response - God - with her freckled grinning face peeking out from under a mass of curls.

Today she curled up in my arms after a long afternoon of playing in the pool and told me that God painted freckles on her face so I could tell the difference between her and her friend, Ashley because they both have curly hair.  The curly hair is the ONLY thing that is the same.

I need to remember these days because in a blink of an eye she will be as tall as me and know everything!

If you can manage children, employees are a snap

Today, several problems that came up with employees and I kept thinking that it is a good thing I am a mother and have experience with temper tantrums, selfish behavior and just plain sulking because they didn't get their own way.  I have learned to mostly control my temper during someone elses temper tantrum and I can mostly ignore the other two.

I can't think of a better place to gain the experience to handle these issues than being a mother.

I think all mothers should add to their resume:

I can handle all manner of undesireable behaviors in other people and will still get my job done.

A tribute to my husband - for Father's Day

Happy Father's Day!

My dear husband choose a frazzled single mother with three children ages seven and under.  The baby was still nursing periodically - and God led him into our life and he is becoming all the things God is calling him to be.  It amazes me that he choose to stay and be an earthly father these three children.

What is totally cool ~ is that he say their faults before he said "I will & I do" and he has become their Dad or as The Princess says "daaauddy"!  The boys come to him for the answers to their most important questions like:

How do I get noticed by the girls without wanting to be noticed?  (That was the real question as translated by Mom)

Why do girls...(insert amost anything here)

How do babies get out?

Can I have internet on my computer?

Why can't I have internet on my computer?

One day The Princess will come with her own questions - and I know that he will teach her diligently what God says a real man will be for her.

He is already teaching all of us what love looks like and that a real man can be gentle & kind and still lead his home.  He is showing us how to experience the little joys in our life and he is showing us adventure!  I am blessed beyond measure and so are "our" children.

I love this man more than I thought could be real, I trust this man more than I ever thought would be prudent and God has given me the peace and comfort of this wonderful gift.

To fathers everywhere - may God grant you the patience and peace to love your children whether they are yours or hers or anyone's child that needs a father's love - You GUYS Rock!

Thinking of ways to Introduce Myself...

Truth be told, I am here because a friend lured me here.  This is the single best to find out what is happening in her life...at least the funny stuff.  So instead of pumping her innocent daughter every time I see her, I check out her blog and have a unique understanding of what is happening in her life.

I have three children that we can name Evangelist, WildMan and The Princess.  Can you tell which one is the baby girl?  Yah, she is the one with the curly hair to her waist and the attitude that goes with it.  It is hard to blame her...the lower lip trembles every so slightly and all the males in her life cave.

Amoung Evangilist's qualities is the ability to say the truth...unflinchingly.  He is concerned about the things of God.  Even when he was four he wanted to be a missionary.  Sometimes he still does, but it is amazing what comes out of this child's mouth.  He has a new problem...girls chasing him and we will see how he handles the attention.

WildMan didn't speak until he was almost 4.  He would hide behind my legs and look at people like they were aliens.  Currently, adults that didn't know him then cannot imagine this child that shy and inept at expressing himself.  One minute he is a character from a movie, then he is a puppy wanting attention and then he could be just wild.

The Princess...well, I don't think she needs much introduction...

I am a Christian homeschooler at heart, but currently working outside the home.  My husband & I are diligently working to get me home, but then our sweet nanny would be out of a very lucrative job.  My kids have been afterschooled and are schooled through the summer and so know all kinds of stuff no one else finds nessessary, but they find it fasinating that my kids know ancient history and so much grammar!

Maybe I'll start by describing my first date with my husband, packing emus...or the time Evangalist was crying in the car because he wasn't ready to leave for the mission field (he was 5)...or when WildMan hid under the table because he spilled his milk...or the lake flooding our campsite...or watching The Princess touch a frog...Some of it sad, but most of it fun!

I see the Fruits of the Spirit so well in other people - sometimes I wonder if they see them in me and so I want to show you and me the Fruits of the Spirit as I see it...sometimes I may be wrong, but sometimes I may be right...
