Hi I'm max and I've been well kinda left out of the family for a long time. You see they always go on these trips and they always take my friend tucker with them. ( he's a dog too) I'm left here to Gard the house which I enjoy ( maybe). But what I always wanted to do is to go into one of those fancy dog shows 9 like tucker) and be in it. But Nooooooo my owners think I would tear up everything but you know I wouldn't don't you. I mean maybe every once and a while when I'm bored and they are gone I may just rip up a slipper but I always try to fix it. Well take this day for a change this is the day that changed my life forever.

 
This is my story: Max where are you boy? I'm going to see my people Max are you coming? Tucker is my worst nightmare. He's a little corgi and always gets to go to the showing place. I'm going to stay here I told him. Then I muttered under my breath cause you always get the most attention. Luckily he didn't hear me like he always does he was half across the yard almost to our owners. I wish I could go to one of those fancy dog shows mom and dad would be so proud of me winning a ribbon. Too bad they would not be there to see it all happen. Oh well there's no hope for me. Just then I heard something behind me I sprung to my feet and began to growl. Hold on partner it's just me do you think I would sneak up on you for this kind of affection. It was my old friend ( a girl and a dog by blood ). Hi Baily what are you doing around these parts I thought you lived in Texas and was never going to see me or.............never mind. Oh that I just moved here with some new owners they're super sweet and I'm going to be in a dog show they said. Why don't you come with your owners and be in it soon. Baily didn't know one thing about being in a dog show but I couldn't blame her she never got to go anywhere in her life. No No No you don't understand, I said. yes I do she replied, the people are having a contest around here and they are going to pick the best dog to go to the state dog show and then on to the country and then to the national. That is if that dog wins all that stuff. I looked at her with a puzzling face. How did you know all this stuff you don't know that much. I looked away too embarrassed to see how she would reacted about it. But she walked up to me sat down and said I'm not as clueless as I use to be and yes you are forgiven. so we sat there together for a little while (yes she is a German shepherd like me). then I heard a yelp I sprang to my feet like all good guard dogs do, told Baily to get behind me or better yet RUN. She just stood behind me not moving an inch. I sat there waiting and what do you know Tucker came around the corner carrying his paw off the ground. it looked really bloody and I couldn't stand to look at it so I said go to the humans and hurry it could be dangerous. I looked at Baily a terrified look was on her face. I told her these things can happen. Now why don't you run a long and go to your owners, I said.

 Later that day I felt someone coming up of course I was asleep so it could have bean in my dream but all of the sudden BAM! I was knocked off my sleeping pallet and swiped off the big hill of ............well okay it's not that bad but I was awakened by the little man. I call him the little man because he is the youngest of the six children that live here in this farm. Anyway I was awake and alert in an instant I was just about to pounce on him when I actually say it was him. I licked his face. Okay okay boy, he told me, you are making me wet with kissed. I backed off and he told me the best thing in the world. Okay so I thought it was the best thing in the world but he looked sad. Boy I hate to say this but tucker has bean badly cut and is at the vet right now with dad and our handler. I hope it is not too bad and if it is then we won't be able to go to the dog show this weekend. Just then I got up and stretched and got into one of those poses they do on the dog shows for Germans. Samuel ( another one of the children)came running up that instant and say me in that pose. He told the little man that it wouldn't work to try and get mother and father to let him in the dog show. Benny ( the little man) told him that I, Max had just gotten in this pose and so began another fight against who was right and who was wrong.

Saturday I was being groomed the way you are supposed to be groomed in one of those dogs shows. I had hair flying everywhere and then I got a hair cut. My hair was too long I guess. Well after all that I went off to the dog shows I was happy and sad all at the same time. I was happy because this was my chance to show what I was made for. I was sad because my poor mom and pop wouldn't be here to cheer me on. You see one time when my mom was in a pickle with a dog that is called the meanest on the block dad tried to save her and they got killed in the fight. Well enough of my parents story I will just have to put that in the past and walk away from it. Though it is hard( no I'm not crying I just have something in my eyes) okay forget it I'm crying. aaaooooooooooohhhhhhhh. Max HUSH OR ELSE! whoops that was my owners *sniffling* I have to be good now. Well we are almost in our places so I have to be a lot quieter. I'm doing great to be this quiet most of the times when I'm in the car I just can't be quiet.


 Well....................................we're here and time for me to get groomed ( again).  Ah the sweet smell of other dogs wait a minute what's that? *growling* Why that mean low down dirty even dog. He's trying to get my girl. Move over rover and yes I'm talking to you, I told him. Well if it ain't that ***** buss or shall I say farm doggy so cute and cutely. I knew that voice in an instant I ran to my girls side and told her to get behind my back and to not look. Just when Rusty the neighbor hood bully was about to pounce on me he heard his handler calling and he ran toward it head down, and tail tucked under. ( if you just think the tail tucked under is just not something real, you are wrong tails tucked under a dogs behind means they are scared to death.) I looked at Baily and asked, are you okey? I think so she replied, well now I'm better now that you're here to protect me. I was terrified. He's so large and mean I heard the quiver in her voice as she spoke.  Yeah I know ever since you left he's been that way. What was he going to do with you? I don't know she said. All I know is that he wanted to see me in private after the show, and if I didn't come he would try to kill you or me. Baily started to shake but before I could confert her I was knocked out with a broom.  I thought to myself what that was but before I could say another word I heard my owners and handler calling me. I ran after them and they set to work grooming me and washing me drying me off. Even putting sweet smelly stuff on me. Then I heard something over a loud speaker and my handler said this is it here you go off to try and win this show.


Moments later after we were all judged the judge pointed a finger at me and my handler was very happy. I thought I had won but my handler didn't go up to the first place stand. Then we had to walk around the ring one more time. Baily right behind me, looked very happy about it. The lady pointed at her then me then some other  German shepherds. I almost went on the first place stand but my handler and I went to the second place stand. I was happy that I at least got to be in second place. But what I didn't understand was that the sweet lady judge picked Baily to be in number one. I didn't mind I was still in second right next to Baily my new and old girlfriend.  I was happy from that day on.  My handler entered me into some other shows and I finally went to nationals!
