Our Busy Little World

Feb. 5, 2007 - BFS #16 These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things

I've been so swamped lately I haven't checked in with blogger friend school, but as it turns out this entry works perfectly with the show and tell assignment this week (thanks for the great idea, Danielle!) So, here's my show and tell:

Sometimes I just find myself overwhelmingly thankful for some goofy little things that I like (even to the point of taking pictures of said inanimate objects).  Here are the winners this week:

I love having just one cup per child, per day.  And since it's always the same cup, I love that three of my four little ones know exactly which cup belongs to which girl.

A friend gave this pampered chef food chopper to me, as it always mushed up the tomatoes she wanted to chop.  While it does indeed mush tomatoes, it is PERFECT for that age/stage where my babies are still too little for table food (unless I spend an hour chopping it by hand), and I am weary of the extra expense of buying baby food (or the extra effort of making baby food).  This sucker chops things up so well that Juliette can eat whatever meat and potatoes meal we're having!

I was bothered by the fact that anytime a toddler (or adult) opened our bathroom door too hard, it banged into my clawfoot tub.  A traditional doorstop wouldn't work here. Since I'm trying to avoid those $5 and $10 purchases that add up so quickly, I took advantage of the fact that we for some reason own a million Winnie-The-Poohs and made up my own little doorstop. A bit of yarn, some hot glue, and a stuffed bear later, my tub is nicely protected!

The last thing is shutterfly.  I love that I can have as many pictures as I want on there, so if my computer dies, my pictures won't disappear forever!   Here are a couple of older ones I discovered while backing pictures up this week:

Oh, she was so teeny tiny when she came home!

Hannah looked so much like Juliette does now!

No words can describe this one . . .

You should make this your show and tell for BFS. It was a great show and tell time.

I made my own baby food too. I would prepare it myself and freeze it in an ice cube tray to thaw later. It worked very well.

If I remember right, if you keep the skin side down on the tomatoes when you chop there is less mushiness. We have your same cups and I only have three but color coordination for each child sure is handy - for everyone! Thanks for sharing. kristi

How cute. I just love that idea. Now I know what to do with all those stuffed animals (smile). I can't wait to get to work. Thanks.

The pictures of the children are gorgeous as always. Isn't stopping to smell the roses, so to speak, great? Unfortunately, I don't take the time to do it enough, and when I do, I can't find the words to blog about it! Hats off to you for making the everyday smiles of life so eloquent and interesting.
