I have managed to book a homeschooler's outing to the National Space Centre in Leicester!! It is booked for Wednesday the 21st of March. We are to be there to start at 10am, and it goes till roughly 2pm, though you can stay later if you like! (some of us will have a long drive home!)
The cost for the day (OK, so this one isn't free, but it should be well worth the cost!) will be £5.95/child and £7.95/adult and £1/car for parking. The theater show for the over nines will be included in the price, but the one for the under nines will be 59 pence extra. The galleries and exhibits are included, as is the use of the picnic room for lunch (bring a packed lunch please). The only other 'extra' charge is the optional Simulator rides which are for those over 1.20 meters tall and cost £1 per person. We have managed to secure the school prices for a visit by booking as a group! (Children are normally £9 and Adults are normally £11!!!!)
This will be a great opportunity for home educators from the East Midlands to get together and meet up. Great for kids to feel apart of something bigger, and for us parents to meet up with others on the same journey as us. So, if you are within a couple of hours of Leicester, then email me (the link is to the right) for the rest of the details and to book in! I have to book in the exact numbers by the middle of February, so you need to act quickly if you want a space.
If you are interested in going (or even just interested in soem resources on space) here is a link to the education section of their website where you can download a pre-visit pack of information and worksheets, an information pack to use during the visit, and loads more educational links and pages to use at home to make the most of the trip.
Hope to see some of you there in March! |
