Jun. 6, 2009 - Help Me Love Summer Contest
I'm a fall kinda gal. I love the cool crip air, beautiful colors painted in the trees, fresh apples and pumpkins, pumpkin bread ... ahem, I'm into the second sentence and already off track. It is not fall. It is summer.
I don't want to wish this summer away. I want to enjoy it and be pleasantly surpried when fall comes.
So. I need anybody and everybody to tell me all of their favorite things about summer.
Ready? Set? Inspire me!
Oh, yes, this is a contest! I will randomly choose a winner and that winner shall receive a gift pertaining to their favorite summer things.
Contest ends Monday, June 14th at noon EST.

We love walking to Grandma's (friends) house in 100F weather, jumping in the pool, swimming and then walking home again.
Its the perfect time to fill a bottom of a flat bucket of somekind with water and dump 1 bottle of joy in it and take wire hangers and do lovely! bubbles with it. Children's favorite.
Summer is the time to have your own library book contest. Kid reads 10 good books and recieve a gc for mcdonalds (or your choice) ice cream cup OR a brand new book!
Most libraries also have book oriented activities.
Paper plate kites. Fun project to get everyone involved in.
Head start on Christmas stuff. Take up a new project! Learn to crochet one doily pattern and make a gazzilion for Christmas gifts. OR Cross stitch ornaments. Children love to help with this.
POssibilities are endless!
OUr Summers projects include;
Family outing to the park. Old fashion picnic. (Cold chicken, pie, preserves, old basket, quilt, etc)
Library fun
Walk everyday
Town cleanup (Tackle a roadway and clean it up)
pottytraining
Just to name a few things we will be acomplishing.

We love the summer time because there is NO SNOW! Sitting on the ground eating fresh wild strawberries, watching transforming life in the gardens, the scent of wild roses, honey lemon balm ice cubes to suck on, moosehunts.

You are a woman after my own heart! I'm an autumn loving lady myself!
But... I'm learning to love summer too.
Here's a few of my summer favorites:
*Strawberries in the garden
*Garden bursting with flowers
*Evening walks (just to the mail box, but hey) with my husband--I do love summer evenings
*Independence Day and fireworks
*Grilling and eating on the deck
*Cooking over an open fire (mmm... roasted apples and s'mores)
We aren't a poolside, biking or camping family, but if you do those, summer is fabulous for them.

Little bare bottoms running through the sprinklers! Hearing all the giggles as they are sprayed. Watching them slip down our slide as water pours down it. Hearing them scream as they stand in the fort and get showered by the hoses.
