Under His Construction

• Aug. 1, 2007 - Looking at parts of speech Biblically

I am so excited about this one my friends - I was planning our grammar lessons for the year and God shared an awesome teaching with me!

God is all about relationships - ours with Him and ours with our neighbor right? And He has gifted us with speech to use in these relationships - so what about each part of speech? Did He have something specific in mind for these too? Absolutely! ( :

Words, like numbers, are representatives of something real - What do I mean? When you are adding - it is not really the numbers but what they represent, for example, If I am counting how many apples I have on a tree - it is truly the apples I am counting - the number just represents the amount. Well, words work the same way - they represent a feeling, an act, a person, and so on.

Nouns are all of the words that represent all of the things that God has created. Without Him no thing that exists would be here.  Now idea nouns are the nontangible things that God created that are manifested through us in our actions and words and even thoughts. Example - the fruit of the Spirit is God manifested through us. Of course idea nouns also can show a lack of God manfested in our lives - hate, bitterness, jealousy, etc.

Verbs are the words that represent the actions we do and as we know God has said that whether we eat or drink or whatever we do we are to do it all for the glory of God.  What are the verbs we do each day? Are they for God's glory? Verbs can also define one's state of existance. Who are we? God called Himself "I am"!

Adverbs tell us to what degree we are unique or with what attitude we do the things we do. God loves when we give - but only when we do it cheerfully. How many of us seek Him to meet our every need faithfully? Do we serve willingly? And in your uniqueness - are you extremely silly? Yeah - me too! (  :

Adjectives - ahh - without these how could we truly understand who God is? Mighty, great, beautiful, wonderful, glorious and on and on! Adjectives are the representatives for the things that make life interesting and not boring - they are the things that make us unique creations of God.

Prepositions represent where we are in relationship to God. Are we in Christ? How about on fire for Him? Have you surrendered your life to Him?

Interjections are those words that help us to express the joy God brings to our lives. WOW! That's all I can say! ( :

Okay this is as far as I have been able to go thus far - can anyone help me out with conjunctions and pronouns? I would love to hear your thoughts and if you can add to any of these - please share! ( :

THis is great. I will add these ideas in my teaching. Thanks. You are full of great ideas.
Conjuctions connect what God has created and what he does, because all that He has made and does connect together in His plans
Too sleepy to think about pronouns but I will see what I can come up with.
THanks for your prayers and encouragement today as well.

Oh, I'm so excited! Thanks for sharing your thoughts. And many, many thanks too for your prayers wrt my eye. I see the Retina Specialist on Tuesday. Will keep you posted on my blog. Have a wonderful weekend! Love, Miiko

Mandi,
God just freely gives you manna, doesn't he? This lesson is another answer to prayer as so many of your insights are!

Conjunctions.... Jesus said, "I am the resurrection AND the the life." Jesus is our Savior AND Lord.

Pronouns.... Can't think of anything here except that there we don't use PROPER pronouns except when it comes to "Him."

Blessings,
Kim
