I finished the first post on this asking for your thoughts on the last two parts of speech that I had not yet had any inspiration about yet: Conjunctions and Pronouns. Jennifer and Kim brought out some great insight into this and after reading their responses it got me thinking and researching more on these. Kim mentioned in her comment that God seems to continue to feed me manna and boy is she right! In His faithfulness he gave me the insight I needed on these last two.
Both Kim and Jennifer made note of how conjunctions help us to understand who Jesus is and what He does for us - and this is exactly right! Without conjunctions we could not possibly know and understand the Gospel message or share it with others. Look at this:
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16
The definition of conjunction is:
The act of conjoining, or the state of being conjoined, united, or associated; union; association; league.
In reguards to grammar the definition is:
A connective or connecting word; an indeclinable word which serves to join together sentences, clauses of a sentence, or words; as, and, but, if.
So these are the words that represent our connection to Jesus! Think of all the passage of scripture pertaining to our salvation through Christ and look for the conjunctions - without them the Gospel would not be communicated clearly.
"For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
Romans 6:23
Okay so now onto pronouns - these are simple since they really fit into the same category as nouns - they are just a further representation of these representative words. I think representation is the key Biblical principle to be gleaned here - one must understand what it means or again they will not understand the Gospel or the significance of why we are to love our neighbor. Jesus represented us by standing in our place to take the punishment for our sins when He died on the cross. We represent His love for others in the way we govern ourselves when we show love. |
