Under His Construction

• Sep. 8, 2007 - Am I a common noun?

Anyone notice my newest addition to my blog? Well there are actually a few new links in my sidebar that my friend Miiko directed me to (go check them out! -They are great!) but what I am talking about is the music! If you don't normally have your volume turned up do so now and listen to the beautiful words of this song! (  : I had forgotten all about this song until I started planning our noun lessons for the year and was thinking about proper nouns. I realized that this lesson was another perfect opportunity to help the kids to see their worth to God.  When God thinks of us He knows our proper name - we are not just boy or girl to Him! We are not common to Him by any means! I am so excited to present this invaluable truth to my kids through this lesson and you can be sure we will be singing the words to this song as we learn all about proper nouns! ( :

"I have called you by name, you are mine"  Isaiah 43:1

Mandi,
Wow! This is great. Love the musical dimension. I've passed it on to my English Grammar co-op friends! Perfect timing as we are studying nouns this week.

Natalie and I have been talking about how the names of Jesus are proper nouns, and even the pronouns when we reference Him, but to think that we are each proper nouns to Him is so humbling.

Blessings,
Kim

I thought this was very humbling too - I watched a video a few years back from Samaritan's Purse that showed them delivering the Christmas boxes to children in 3rd world countries and they had this song playing in the background as they showed these kids getting the presents and just beaming from ear to ear! Oh how I cried watching that!
He does indeed know our name and we are worth everything to Him - WOW!

Love,
Mandi

That's what we did the other day when we talked about common nouns and proper nouns. :) I'm so glad you started me on this...each time we deal with grammar terms, I now bring in Biblical examples. Love, Miiko (whose great God knows her by name, she's His own! :)

LOVE LOVE LOVE that song. My girls sang it in our kids' choir for Word Explosion. It was really moving to hear 70+ kids sing in their innocence, "He knows my name, He knows my every thought..." Thanks for the smile!
