Thought you all might enjoy this snowman the kids and I 'wrote' this morning! Isn't he cute? We have been doing some writing lessons lately and we are really, truly enjoying them! Every homeschooler's dream right? Because we all know how intimidating the idea of teaching our children how to write can be. I think, if they are being honest, most teachers are intimidated by teaching this subject.
Well I am going to share a little secret that I have found with you all that I guarantee will bring success to your future writing lessons. The secret is in the form of an exceptional book I am using called 'If You're Trying to Teach Kids How to Write, You've Got to Have This Book!' by Marjorie Frank. My friend Anna-Marie (http://principledmom.homeschooljournal.net/) had recommended this book on her blog a while back and then I found it for a great price at Paperback Swap

! As soon as it was delivered, I sat down and started reading. In just the first few chapters of the book my misconceptions about writing were challenged by the author's wonderful insight. I am now almost finished with the book and am just itching to implement all of my new found knowledge about teaching my precious little writers!
If you tremble at the nightmare of tear filled writing classes like I did and don't want to spend hundreds of dollars on the latest, greatest writing curriculum then I highly recommend this book to you!
