Spring Fever

I don't know about your family, but mine has a serious case of spring fever!   It is so hard for us to buckle down and do our usual schoolwork when we want to be outside enjoying the warming weather.    So... we decided to explore some fun, yet educational, places and activities outside our home.  Here is a list of some of the things we found:

Wheeler Farm   -  What a fun place to spend time in the spring!  Tour the farmhouse, try your hand at milking a cow and take a tractor-drawn wagon ride.

Hogle Zoo  -  Another perfect place to go in the spring!  The cooler weather means many of the animals are more active and somehow dragging that wagon full of kids/souveneirs/goodies is just easier when the sweat isn't pouring down.

Thanksgiving Point  -  We love Thanksgiving Point, even in the winter, but spring time brings baby animals at the Farm and the re-opening of the Gardens (March 29th).  Need I say more?

Red Butte Gardens  -    Explore the beautiful gardens, check out the snake maze, or try out the monthly activities at Em's Sprout House (March is Weather Station Exploration, April is Acorns to Oaks).

Tracy Aviary  -  Feed the flock of pelicans, tour the Destination Argentina exhibit, or just take a leisurely stroll around the aviary.  We like to go look for the baby ducks swimming behind their mommies on the pond.

Ogden Eccles Dinosaur Park   -  Who doesn't like dinosuars?  Especially when you can see over a hundred full-sized, realistic dinosaur sculptures.  And don't forget Free Movie Mondays.

Kennecott Copper Mine  -  Watch the action at the world's largest man-made excavation.  Of course, my boys favorite part is seeing the ENORMOUS trucks.  We will be there when the visitor's center opens in April.

The American West Heritage Center  -   We are looking forward to Baby Animal Days, April 10-12.   Here is the description from their website  "Family fun with animals at this popular and beloved northern Utah event. Kids love petting the baby animals, participating in frontier Springtime activities, and joining the fun in the Little Buckaroo Rodeo. There will also be wagon rides, Native American crafts, workshops for young and older, A unique Treasure Hunt, animal shows, stock and rescue dog demonstrations, and many other hands-on activities."
