So I was wrong.

Well, it seems that I ONLY come on my blog once a month.  Argh!  I don't know why!  It just doesn't occur to me when I sit down at the computer screen.

Anyway, school is going well.  We are memorizing the Apostle's Creed and doing some great copywork by Julie Shields click here to check them out all having to do with Medieval History. Speaking of History that is going well also.  We have some field trips planned for--it may seem weird but it's true--Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament.  We thought this would be a lot of fun. And we'd also like to go out to Loveland, Ohio.  Who goes to Ohio?  And why Loveland?  There is actually a castle in Loveland!  How cool is that?  Check it out here

A has begun his Pre-Algebra and  is still working on the Key to Series.  Now, he is mastering decimals.  He did VERY well on fractions--I love this program.  He has completed his health course and is well into his vocabulary with Vocabulary Bridges from English to Latin & Greek.

K is nearly done with most of her 2nd grade work.  At the rate she goes she will certainly be done before the end of the public school year.  We are going to continue in the summer (since me missed quite a bit with this past years events--my step-father's death, my mother's cancer diagnosis and surgeries, and adorable little J.) So she will go directly into her third grade work.  She is such a blessing to teach.  Rarely is there a struggle to get her to complete her work.  She seems to stay focused in a way that is far beyond the grasp of the boys.  The boys will look for any opportunity to goof off.   They're annoying but they're still awesome kids!

P has been doing very well with MUS.  He can fly through his sheets pretty easily.  I like the fact that he is learning basic algebraic formula at his level in fourth grade instead of waiting.  Now, if I can just get him to stop trying to do all his math in his head!  He just doesn't want to write it down.  It's weird.

The boys still don't love their R&S English, but they are learning A TON!!  They just don't like to write much and there is a lot of writing in this program.  So we do some oral and we write on the whiteboard instead of paper.  Which, for some reason, is a tolerable, almost enjoyable, way to write. Hmmm... go figure.

Well, J is up now and needs a new diaper, so I better go.  See you next month!

Our lives are way too similiar it is amazing. My 10 year old used R&S last year because someone gave it to me and we had the same problem so we used a white board too. :) I have two using MUS. I'm going to check out the two other curiculums you mentioned they sound like they might work for us.
Thanks for your prayers. What state do you live in? I'd love to meet you sometime. We are going to Indiana and Michigan this summer.

Glad to hear things are going so well.
I switched to Rod & Staff English for my third grader this year. I really like their program, but you're right, it is a lot of writing, and we end up doing some orally to...
Enjoy that wee one, he won't be that little for long!

Enjoy them all,
ali
