I. Bible Unit Study: Music Appreciation

1. Music, An Appreciation
Complete 2 chapters per week.
2. Music Education in the Christian Home by Mary Ann Froehlich, PhD
C. Lesson plan
1. Read scripture - about 5 verses from list in Music Education in the Christian Home.
2. Highlight 1 chapter of Music, An Appreciation, including listening to accompanying recordings.
3. Listen to recordings of music of period studied.
II. Additional requirement: Research paper (1 per quarter) dealing with some aspect of music or Bible readings.
A. Length
1. Tenth grade: 3 pg. + bibliography pg.
2. Eighth and ninth grades: 2 pg. + bibliography pg.
B. Format
1. Typed, single-spacing, double-spacing between paragraphs. Font - comic sans. Size - 12.
C. Extra credit given for charts, drawings, music, dramatizations (beyond minimum written requirements).
D. Bibliography
1. Minimum of three sources
2. No internet sources will be accepted.
E. Grading
1. Outline due end of 3rd week of each quarter 10 points
2. Rough draft due end of 6th week of each quarter 15 points
3. Revised paper due end of 7th week of each quarter 20 points
4. Final paper due end of 8th week of each quarter 55 points
5. Total points possible 100
6. 50% points for content; 50% grammar/composition
7. Maximum extra credit 10 points
