May. 28, 2009 - 50's Hairstyle

So here is a video from ehow.com about a 50's hairstyle (basically a glorified ponytail). I apologize profusely for the commercial at the beginning, commercials are sooo annoying! But I suppose we shall just have to grin and bear it. *sigh*  At any rate, enjoy!

Very very truly yours,
Allison

May. 28, 2009 - Fifties-Inspired

Ok, so I love the fifties! Really, I do! So today I'm going to talk about a fifties-inspired look you could pull off today!

First off, some inspiration! What you will see in many 50's pictures and fashions are the full circle skirts and the tops that come in at the waistband.

When Recreating the 50's look, you want to start with your basic-shaped dress, such as this white one.

You can often find sundresses that resemble this basic dress.
Here is an example available at

Open-toed high heels are always a good option....

But simple flats like these could work as well. (By the way, MUDD often has great mary-janes for sale, with and without heels. I have a pair with heels that look a little like the shoes below, except mine are brown, and I love them!)

For "Going out", especially in a convertable, you will need...

Gloves (preferably white...)

A hat or head scarf...

And of course your coat!
