Saturday Psalm & Praise - Psalms11

I couldn't decide which psalm or praise to post so I decided to do Psalm 11 since today is the 11th of November.

Psalm 11 reads the following:

1In the LORD put I my trust: how say ye to my soul, Flee as a bird to your mountain?

2For, lo, the wicked bend their bow, they make ready their arrow upon the string, that they may privily shoot at the upright in heart.

3If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?

4The LORD is in his holy temple, the LORD's throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men.

5The LORD trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth.

6Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup.

7For the righteous LORD loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright.

What a powerful chapter. We are like the bird who flees to the Lord, which is like a giant mountain. He is there ready to protect and shelter us from harm, from night, for the storm.

I have been reading a lot of Deuteronomy, and seeing how the Lord treats those who keep His commandments. Israel was a blessed nation. They were protect like the bird who flee to the mountain. The Lord gave them countless chances, whereas with other nations He simply wiped them from the records. He still does that today. Because of Jesus Christ, we are all able to flee to the mountain... again... and again... and again. There is no limit.

I will put my trust in the Lord, who will keep me, as a little bird fleeing to the mountain. He is my protector.

What Our Country Needs

What does our country need? Not armies standing with sabers gleaming ready for the fight; Not increased navies, skillful and commanding, to bound the waters with an iron might; Not haughty men with glutted purses trying to purchase souls, and keep the power of place; Not jeweled dolls with another vying for palms of beauty, elegance, and grace, but we want women, strong of soul, yet lowly with rare meekness, born of gentleness; The woman whom all-little children bless; Brave, earnest women, helpful to each other, with finest scorn for all things low and mean; Women who hold the names of wife and mother far nobler than the title of a Queen.
