Encourage Your Sisters in Christ

I received an email from a well-known blogger mom.
"Yes, I really meant it - I love your blog. :) I think it is wonderful and that you are such a joy to the Lord being so strong in your faith at such a young age. I would give my right arm if I could have been like you that young. It brings tears to my eyes. I had to come to the Lord the HARD way. You can read my testimony on my blog's sidebar. I hope my daughter grows up and is just like you.

God bless and keep strong in Christ,
Heather "
Wow! It brought tears to my eyes... truly. It is so heart-warming and encouraging when you receive nice comments about your blog...especially from a mom-blogger.

As Christian women, we should be encouraging the younger generation, whether you're 15 or 35, to keep strong in the Faith, to seek Jesus in everything, to have hope, to be pure and let them know you're proud of them. If you don't know them in person, drop them a comment (It won't take more then 30seconds to say "good job!") and tell them that way! It will give them "fuel" for their spirits.

The Bible gives good instructions on what/how the older women are supposed to do for/with the younger women...
Titus 2: 3-5
    3The aged women likewise, that they be in behavior as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;
4That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,
5To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.
Here is another comment I received last week.

I enjoyed reading your passion for the Lord. It gives me hope for my own daughter. God Bless!
I am not the perfect role model nor do I claim to be. I have flaws and blemishes. I still sin and disobey... but if in my spirit I can give hope to mothers for their daughters, it keeps me striving to be a "perfect role model".

When Kaitlyn turned 13 we had a surprise birthday for her. We didn't just invite her age-mates, but their moms and their sisters. I gave a talk on the need for us all to help one another spiritually. I used the passage in Titus 2 as an exhortation to the moms and older sisters and a verse that I can't remember right now about not letting anyone look down on you b/c you are young... I encouraged the younger girls to look up to and obey the godly women in their lives and to surround themselves with the right kind of friends.

I talked about rebellion not beinc an option biblically also.

Anyway, this post sparked that memory. It is one of my favorite memories!

I find your posts very encouraging. I didn't used to think reading the Bible and being a godly young lady was very important before I came across your blog(s) about a year ago. I am very thankful that I found it and have changed my way of thinking. I thank you for being so stong in your faith/writing and helping so many people.

Wow, now that I think about it I'm not sure I've ever told you that. Well, it's true. You are a most wonderful sister in Christ.

Love,
~Nikki

You're right. It can be such an encouragement to get a comment or note from someone who has been blessed by one's writing. I have been edified many times by reading your blogs (both here and at Lothlorien). :-) Keep it up!

Nov. 26, 2007 - a note from Rose

Hello Lois,
I was reading your previous posts on youth groups...and I absolutely agree with you...

I attented a several Youth groups regularly during Junior High, so I do know what I'm talking about. They are always centered around and made for public schoolers who have problems with their parents, their parents are divorced/separeted, they have problems with peer pressure, purity, they use bad language, or they are not saved.
They are not directed for good christian kids....
Anyways....I could go on and on...but you did sum it up the best. It is the father's job for his familie's spiritual growth.
Love to hear from you,
Rebekah Rose

What Our Country Needs

What does our country need? Not armies standing with sabers gleaming ready for the fight; Not increased navies, skillful and commanding, to bound the waters with an iron might; Not haughty men with glutted purses trying to purchase souls, and keep the power of place; Not jeweled dolls with another vying for palms of beauty, elegance, and grace, but we want women, strong of soul, yet lowly with rare meekness, born of gentleness; The woman whom all-little children bless; Brave, earnest women, helpful to each other, with finest scorn for all things low and mean; Women who hold the names of wife and mother far nobler than the title of a Queen.
