Spinning!!

It's been a month since I blogged but we have not been idle. Our family has been spun round a few times and stretched a lot. The end product though seems to be that a stronger thread has entwined itself in our lives and added color and texture. BUT I digress..

Since my husband deployed we have had good week bad week:

Good week.. we biked to the library, went ice skating and had general active fun

Bad week..flu two down two up

Good week.. back out and about walking the trails, reading, learning, enjoying and visiting..

Bad week..Flu again.. other two down..

Good week..sking.. visiting..catching up..

Bad week.. mini flu re-emergence

Good week ..back on slopes great day sking with the three oldest children

Bad week (actually hit the day after sking but htat would ruin the flow here) Oldest son comes down with appendicitus and has an appendectomy two days before we fly to Orlando for a once in a life time holiday/anniversary celebration with my family who flew out from England.

Good week ..Sea World, Busch Gardens, Leau Gardens, Honeymoon Island, beach, Sea shell collecting, back yard pool, sun!

Bad week..well not for me but I supervised the homeschool standardised testing here so it wasn't fun and I disliked being away from the children for three mornings straight.

Since that last bad week we have had two great weeks!!! Catching up on chores, getting out and about. AND I learnt how to spin wool into yarn! What a wonderful experience and so relaxing!!! I seriously considered buying a wheel and seeing if Tricare would pay for it for me as therapy :0)

It has been a challengeing couple of months but when you spin things good stuff happens. Spin your clothes the water flies out and you get dry clothes! Spin paint and the colors fan out and you get art. Spin wool and the fibres bond and catch and produce useable beautiful yarn. Spin a deployed family and you get a family that sticks together, friends that bond and add color and texture, dross is flung away and what is important is left to wear, endure and sustain.

God has been our provider and protector and a very real help in the ups and downs. He has ordained our life to have the right people at the right time in the right place and I ahve been blessed beyond measure by the beauty of HIS grace and plan for our life.

May this week find you spun, stretched but not broken.

Wendy

Well said, my dear. And spinning beats winding hands down!

Mar. 15, 2006 - Spin Marriage?

Posted by Anonymous
And when you spin a marriage by having the husband deploy while the wife takes care of everything at home including sick children, homeschooling, in-laws, parents, and everything else associated with life in the Air Force and preparing for a summer move, you get a stronger Helpmeet, a Husband who has a closer walk with God and a better focus on his family, and a marriage with a strengthened foundation.

When we're forced to spin,
let the Lord step in.
Follow the word of His Son,
and Lord, Thy will be done.

Love,
Steve

Just stopping by, visiting blogs I've not perused in awhile. This was a great entry Wendy! I thought of you and prayed for you a few weeks ago, when we went to a festival downtown. They have it every year and it's sort of a colonial times fest and a modern day fest mixed together...LOL. Anyways, my six year old is very into weaving/spinning/etc and there was a lady at the festival teaching how to spin wool. She allowed him to use the drop spindle and taught him how to spin via that method...he had a blast. It made me think of you though because I had remembered reading this entry before.
