Sunday, April 29, 2007 - YES!!! I actually got the whole week DONE- but I still worry.....

LAst night I finished making out this coming week's lesson plans!
Do you know how long it has been since I did that? Probably
about 8 months! The fact that we were using Time4Learning
before made it hard to get back on that track. We are cutting
costs this month, so I opted to do some unit studies to keep us
going in the meantime. I am usually only a day or two ahead of
the day that we will be using the plans. That makes for a lot of
slipshod lesson planning. It also sometimes makes my time
while they have meds on board not so productive. Some days I
am still trying to make plans when I should be teaching, and
they do not have enough to do..... BUT THIS TIME!! I did it!
Sometimes I wonder if I am doing the right thing. Sometimes I
wonder if my kids are getting all they need when I do this. Then I
think, I know people who are not good at spelling, and they do
fine. Doctors are notorious for bad handwriting and they do ok.
Most people I know can't even remember most of what they
learned in elementary school. I wonder if I am letting my
children pursue their interests enough.
Those are important, and I think maybe I am too caught up on the
three R's. I was never good at math in school, but I grew up and
went to medical assisting school, and found out that what I have
to do is not that hard. I never had much trouble with fractions or
decimals, or measurement. I can do drug calculations in my
head! I was afraid to become a nurse because people told me
that there was a lot of math. But the kind of math I need is the
kind I happen to be good at!
I would love to figure out how to do more with this blog, like put
pictures on it, and links and other neat stuff, so i could share
more of what I am doing with everyone.
