Three bountiful blessings from the Lord......It's hard to keep it down to 3, so I had to combine a few:)
1.Relational health, and emotional protection. Communication between my husband and I has turned completely around. There seem to be no sore spots that we can't talk about now. He has started to lead in some areas, and has changed his attitude toward negotiating with me over issues that we have had trouble discussing for years. God has held my heart in the palm of His hand and soothed my anxiety, giving me strength and courage to do and say what is right even when it is hard to do.
2. Roadside carpet cleaner. Raymond has been saying that our carpet needs cleaning for about 2 months, and recent problems left us with no way to afford to rent one. I found a carpet cleaner on the roadside coming home from work last week. Raymond used it yesterday and it works fine!
Roadside furniture- I found a table and 6 very nice chairs- sturdy, in good condition. Previous to this, we had not enough chairs for us all to sit at the table, and our table was really too small, and rickety.
3. Protection, finances and health for my husband. He began working 2 weeks ago, and although he has heart trouble, he has been well. This provided finances. This also provided Raymond with a sense of accomplishment that was lacking for his emotional health. This is also providing protection for me, because I now have the freedom from worry over a situation where I work -now that I know we will still have enough money to get by if I have to leave. We are on the same page with the finances now, so we can make joint decisions. It has taken 14 years- but it all happened so suddenly- without much effort on our part. I do have to say though that there was a lot of prayer going on!
Thanksgiving in our family has gone through phases, like the rest of the holidays, they have been passed down to the next generations. We used to have Thanksgiving with my maternal Grandmother and all the various relatives. Then for a while, we had thanksgiving with my father's side of the family, usually with everyone who could make it. For a while, Thanksgiving happened with just our immediate family ( My Parents')and a few other people, friends, relatives... And then my cousin started doing her own Thanksgiving and sometimes we went to that one too. Some years, Raymond and I lived far away from my family, and we had Thanksgiving with his family, who are vegetarians. I enjoyed it, but I missed the meat! Once or twice, we had church friends invite us for Thanksgiving. That was always fun. Last year, nobody had a family get together planned- and they all went to their in-laws. It felt strange to be having our own immediate family and no one else last year. It was depressing to me.
This year, a friend from my Bible study felt led by God to make each of the members a full Thanksgiving dinner, and freeze it, so that all we have to do is heat it up! The next day, after receiving this dinner, I found out that some one in our church put our name in for Thanksgiving baskets that they deliver to lower income people each year. My mother didn't have anything planned and all the siblings are going elsewhere, while my grandmother will be having hip replacement surgery on Tuesday. So we have decided to bring the pre-cooked meal to their house to celebrate with them. Then I can visit mi Abuelita in the hospital. We will save the other meal for Christmas:)
