Well my niece Emma Grace was born on Feb 26th to my brother Randy and his wife Cathie. I had hoped to have a picture at this point to display, but I don't have one yet.
I have been having some awful back/neck/head pain as of late. I would appreciate your prayers for that:)

I am looking into a nutritional treatment for Rowan. I KNOW he has ADHD, even though he has not been diagnosed. My other children have it, as does my husband and I have ADD. Trinity and Harley's ADHD was interfering with their learning, and they have been on medication because of it. Rowan's learning doesn't seem to be affected by his ADHD very much, if at all, so I have let it go.
I have heard lately about Omega 3 in treating it, so I decided to try it. I saw an ad for this in Family Fun Magazine:

It was about $7 at Wallgreens. It contains DHA, ALA and EPA fatty acids. The dosage on the bottle says that you should give your child 1-2 of these gummy fish a day. This is FAR below the dosage suggested by this article.
So I am now giving Rowan 5 of them a day( that is still lower than the dose they suggest). In the first week, I thought I had wasted my money. I did some reading and found out that it sometimes takes 1-3 months to see improvement. Since switching to 5 a day, I think I am seeing a little bit, enough to keep going with it anyway.
I might start giving it to my other kids as well. Trinity is already on the maximum dosage of Concerta, but says she feels like it isn't enough to help her control herself. I read recently that Concerta has some risk of heart attack. NOT something we need in our family when my husband has Familial Hyperlipidemia and had a triple bypass at age 28. Incidentally, Omega 3 is also good for heart disease!

| Nancy, Hope that you guys had a great Easter! In regards to Omega 3, it was one of the best things that we did for Corey!!! We Coromega, I get it at the health food store down the street from you. It comes in these little packets of orange flavored goo. We also use acidophilous...I've noticed a difference in brands when we switched to cheaper versions. I've gone to a couple of conferences on natural ways to help Corey and have a few web sites if you're interested. Hope that your head and neck pains get better (I know that I've been struggling with the same thing....don't know if its physiological or just the stress of being around the boys 24-7!!!!!) Give me a call sometime or maybe we can hook up at church to talk about the supplements :) |
