Robert Mitchum is the antagonist- and a very sly character he is!
He is joined by Shelly Winters and - an old silent movie star, Lillian Gish
There is so much that can be discussed in this edge-of -your-seat film. It is creepy... and you will want to bear that in mind and only show it to those children who do not scare easily, who can understand and learn to see beyond the surface story.

There could have been many more, such as courage, kindness, thoughtfulness, manners, vows, self esteem, discipline and child abuse.
This is the story of a serial murderer who has his own twisted gospel. He marries widows takes their money and kills them. There are a pair of children probably 4 and 10, who are at the center of the suspense, keeping their father's money a secret from this man. I never thought that hymns could be creepy, but this guy sings "Leaning on the Everlasting Arms" when he is stalking the children.
The ending is happy, but there are hardships for the children throughout the film.
There is no gore or graphic violence to be seen, and the acting is somewhat over the top for a few characters, but all in all, I think this is a great movie that will get you talking.
