November Happenings

We have been busy the last few months.  This post will cover some of the November happenings.  Ariel is really enjoying her co-op.  The Germany pictures are from her co-op Christmas around the world.  The event organizer had the kids write something nice to each of their fellow co-op students on strips of paper to make a friendship chain when they get home.  She had a little paper stocking for each of the children to place their strips.  Ariel said this was her best stocking ever. J  The group focus this year is mainly on geography and cultures from around the world.  She is also learning science, music and dance in this co-op.

She loves to play with her friends, write stories, draw anime cartoons and loves children’s church.  If everyone is dragging on Sunday she is usually the one to say “Come on everyone, lets get to church!”  She just wrote and sent her picture to a pen pal in UkraineShe decided she would take a break from

taekwondo for awhile and take up swimming lessons again.

Madeline’s high school co-op is covering biology, geography and a world literature discussion group.  They have labs every other Tuesday in biology and here is a picture of the edible animal cell she made for that class.

She chose Germany as well for her geography Christmas project so she will be using the same display but hand in a report as well as a presentation for her class.  We may try to make lebkuchen for her presentation since our friend in Germany says that is what everyone in her village serves this time of year.  She just finished The Scarlet Pimpernel for literature class.

Madeline is also involved in yearbook, worship band, nursing home ministry, youth group and Tae kwondo.   Her dad went with her to TKD camp last weekend.  He earned his yellow belt at camp.  Madeline was named top camper and received a trophy as well as her green belt.

She also learned her bo staff form and one of the instructors gave her his weapon because she was so dedicated to practicing the form.

These activities are in addition to the curriculum we use at home to cover the basics so we are all pretty busy but very happy to be schooling at home.
