I am watching the National Spelling Bee tonight and so thought I would share some interesting tidbits -- for isntance; of the 275 contestants this year over 13% are home-schooled:

196 public (71.28%)
37 home (13.45%)
26 private (9.45%)
13 parochial (4.73%)
3 charter (1.09%)
Of last year's 273 spellers, 63.37% were public-schooled, 12.45% were home-schooled, 13.92% were private-schooled, 9.16% were parochial-schooled, and 1.1% were charter-schooled.
