MATC to Host Community Safety Day Sept. 27
at Oak Creek Campus
OAK CREEK, Wis. (Sept. 2, 2008) – Milwaukee Area Technical College will host Community Safety Day Saturday, Sept. 27, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Oak Creek Campus, 6665 S. Howell Ave. More than 20 local, state and federal agencies will have exhibit booths at the free, public event.
Special presentations include:
Iris scans and fingerprinting of children by the Milwaukee County Sherriff’s Department;
Car seat and bicycle safety tips by City of Milwaukee Police Department;
Preventing identity theft by the United States Postal Inspection Service and the State of Wisconsin Office of Privacy Protection;
An appearance by McGruff the Crime Dog;
Tips for senior safety by the Wauwatosa Police Department.
MATC Protective Services faculty and students will conduct demonstrations and tours of their facilities, including the firearms facility, burn house, and emergency medical services equipment.
Other agencies participating in Community Safety Day include: American Red Cross, Child Abuse Prevention Fund, Franklin Police Department, Glendale Police Department, Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control, Milwaukee County Department of Aging, Milwaukee County Emergency Medical Services, Milwaukee County Emergency Management, Oak Creek Fire and Police departments, Task Force on Family Violence, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Police Department, Wisconsin Department of Agriculture and Wisconsin Humane Society.
