Homeschool music
Did you know that the Adventures in Music classes at Master Studios are provided at a discount?
For $200.00 a year (!) you can receive 30 one hour sessions of top quality music instruction for your child. This is a special price just for Homeschoolers. Because Mrs. Reuss, music instructor, is a homeschooling parent herself, she realizes the economic needs of homeschooling families and is offering these unique music classes to the homeschooling community at such a reduced price. Consider that the average price of a music lesson is $15.00 per half hour. At that same rate, these classes are actually valued at $900.00 a year!!!
Because of the economic recession, many families are choosing to postpone music lessons or continue with the choices they have already made such as private lessons or using the curriculum provided by their homeschooling company. Many do not realize the benefits of a general music class for all children especially one that is Orff-Schulwerk based.
An Orff-Schulwerk general music class provides the child with the opportunity of learning music in a non-threatening environment where the child can explore sounds, improvise, compose, and create music. It combines music, movement, drama, and speech into lessons that are similar to child's world of play. It was developed by the German composer Carl Orff (1895-1982) and colleague Gunild Keetman during the 1920s. The Orff Approach is now used through out the world to teach students in a natural and comfortable environment. You can read more about the Orff Approach at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orff_Schulwerk and at http://www.aosa.org/orff.html
It would be a shame for the homeschooling community in the Waukesha/Milwaukee area to lose such a valuable resource such as the Master Studios Adventures in Music classes, but that reality just may happen. Last year, these classes saw a drastic reduction in enrollment, so much so, that Mrs. Reuss has had to question whether it is feasible to continue providing these classes. In order for a class to continue at Master Studios and at the reduced price, there must be a minimum of four students fully enrolled by July 31, 2009. Enrollment forms can be downloaded by going to www.geocities.com/mastersstudios. Summer programs are also offered and are a great way to explore the Orff approach before the Fall. |
