Our poor kids!
No rest ever!
Here it was time for dinner...
but we turned it into a school lesson...
...and we had so much fun!
Have gotten several requests on where to purchase MRE's
Any Army Surplus store sell the MRE's
Have Fun...let me know when you post "Your MRE Story"!
It all started when we found out that not one but two of our children were going to Iraq this year...one in March and one in May. So we have been spending time discussing what life would be like on the field as well as what life has been known to be like on the field in years gone by...Anyways the kids had "MRE" (Meals Ready to Eat) for dinner just like the solidiers would get off the delivery truck while out in the field...It was called...Chicken with Salsa...It was quite interesting...rather on the spicy side...in WW2 the MRE's came with three cigarettes, mathches and toilet tisue...there were no cigarettes but still the matches and tissue...the dailyration on tissue was quite slim! Also even in WW@ the soliders got M&M's and the slogan "they melt in your mouth and not in yours hands came after M&M's did so well in WW2. .. Hope you enjoy the pictures we had Tons of Fun! (They are in the slide show to the right)

I am so sorry to hear about your five year old... have you posted on this before? I can't believe such a sad story. Praying for you.
In Him,
Amy

What a great lesson!!
How'd you get the packages? How'd you get your kids to taste the food? You must be a convincing momma!! ;o)
Blessings, Beckie :o)
(I love your slideshow, by the way.)

Wow, how did you get access to the food? Really cool slide show. The paper ration is "too much", I must say! BTW, my whippet pictures are out. Enjoy! :)

Feb. 5, 2007 - Hi from another AL homeschooler.

Hi Jeanne, my name is Dy, and I followed your link from the AL homeschool email loop you joined. We're also homeschooling in the area, and are thoroughly enjoying the adventure. Wanted to say that I so enjoyed reading through your blog - you've done a lovely job with it, and have written eloquently and passionately about education in America. Well done!
Your children overseas will be in our prayers this year, as will those of you still at home. {{hugs}} And please tell them Thank You for their time, their service, and their willingness to serve when called.
We don't make it to many of the get-togethers on the list, since we're down in Morgan Co. (aka - the boonies), but I do hope we'll get to meet up one day.
Dy
