And a special thanks to my "legs" person that day Cindy...I thank you for saving me soooo many steps you were Great! And of course I can't forget the before the event helpers either! Hats off to M.E. "The Parachute & Folder Queen" & Gina "The Hole Punching Queen" to thousands of pages! Each family recieved a folder with 26 pages of info, pictures, etc. One family wrote that after our event they went to a "civil war museum" and The Family that attended our event knew more info than the folks running the museum knew! Too funny! Homeschoolers rule! This was after the event right before we tore down our little camp.
The guys having "Coffee" it was a HUGE thing to have a cup of coffee back then! It was running 10.00 a pound and that is not the equvilant to our ten dollars! At the end of the day we did our Letterboxing class. Some may wonder why letterboxing? Well it actually started in the 1860's in England so it was time appropriate. And we were in a park so.... We raffled off a letterbox. And also raffled off some civil war coloring books I made. Then one family won the drawing to be able to hide the Wonderland letterbox. We had a great time! THis many folks were still in attendance after 6 hours. Thanks again to all that participated. |

I got this from Little Eblings ... After reading why don't you do the same on your blog ... let me know where to find you and your awnsers ...
1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate? Hot Chocolate ! ... but the kids love egg nog ...ick ! 2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree? They are always wraped kinda sorta ... but gets a little sloppy sometimes. 3. Colored lights on tree/house or white? This year is Totally differant. We got a real tree so it has colored lights and the house has white lights. I only have two of the three trees decorated, (yes we put up three) 4. Do you hang misletoe? Oh yes ... anything to get a kiss with daddy ! 5. When do you put up your decorations? We start right after dinner on Thanksgiving. 6. What is your favorite Christmas dish ( excluding desserts) ? Is there anything else. hee, hee ? 7. Favorite Christmas memory as a child. My grandma's Silver Aluminum tree with color wheel. I have put it up every year now since 1994. 8. When & How did you learn the truth about Santa? As a child I was 12 yrs. old. As an adult I learned the real truth about christmas and Christ's birth. Just take the "n" in Santa and put it on the end. Then see how mant people get into debt ...and even more horrible things around this time of year. It is not about presents ! 9. Do you open a gift on christmas eve ? Oh, yes ! Everyone gets to pick the smallest one . 10. How do you decorate your Christmas tree? We do not use any orbs as the christmas tree came from a pagean holiday called "Christ Mass" , it is in the bible and not a very nice thing at all. So we use ceramic ornaments, each year my aunt makes new one for the children and having so many children some have had to be given to the children for their trees. Also home made one the children make and clear plastic snowflakes and bulky icicles. (as we very rarely get snow we have to fake it hard). Then on christmas morning along with all the presents arrive candy canes galore on the tree ! 11. Snow? Last year we had 3 inches for about 2 hours, hee, hee Dose that count ? 12. Can you Ice Skate ? Yes I love it ! 13. Do you remember your favorite gift ? Yes one year I got three "betsy wetsies" ... triplets ! Then I had 9 children ...hmmm any conection I wonder ??? 14. What's the most important thing about Christmas ? Spreading the truth about Christ ! 15. What is your favorite Christmas dessert? My aunts "Bakalva" Haven't had any for many years as she has been gone since 1991. But I can still remember eating so many your tummy would hurt ... but you had to have just one more ! 16. What is your favorite Christmas tradition? This is a tuffy ... but would have to say decorating the house. 17. What tops your tree? Every year it seems to be differant as they always seem to break (you know the long glass ornament kind) this year hubby got me a fiber optic white & silver angel for our first real tree. 18. Which do you prefer ... Giving or Recieving ? Have to say giving but wish stores still wrapped presents like back in the good ol' days. 19. What is your favorite Christmas song ? Anything Elvis sings is fine with me ! 20.Candy canes ? Yuck or Yum ? Oh very yummy ! |

Welll...hubby picked up some free tickets to "The Circus". Having been to several I thought I knew what to expect... not so... We went about an hour and a half away from home...and not seeing any signs in this town we stopped at the gas station and got directions...we were almost there...the kids were estatic!!! I had told them to dress warmly as it has gotten very cold here very early...(thinking this was an indoor event in a large unheated building)...well we got a little closer to see yes...only a
HUGE CIRCUS TENT... yellow and red...so cool! ( just like in the old movies)
Inside we found very old fashion seating...just a wooden board tied down to a supporting board of a kind. Any ways...it was a whopping 47 degrees last night and although we did dress warm it was not warm enough to sit in a BIG TOP Tent flapping in the breeze. Any ways both hubby and I being rather shocked..(and of course we couldn't just leave...which had it just been the two us of we would have) so in we went...I quickly found a small area between many people and asked if that space had been taken...it wasn't so in we snuggled...I had never been SOOO close to the rings before! This was not Barnum & Bailey! There was only about 3 feet from us and the lion cage.. http://homeschoolblogger.com/WLCPictures1/226874/ ..which was really cool until we saw them taking it down and saw the only thing holding it together was plastic ties ... by then the tigers and lion were gone but still...eeeck! There were many differant acts...so hard to watch all three rings...most of the acts there were juggling things and or people...then came a trapeze act....No Net Either...he did a head stand , With NO hands, just balancing on his noggin!!!...on this little bitty bar while it was swinging wildly...that stuff never bothers me when I know there is a net...then a girl on a round circle trapeze bar and one on silk ropes...all with no net...one guy looking like the dad was sporting a broken arm and watching on the sidelines...I got so scared the one time ... I screamed so hard I almost fell off the fancy seating and on top of Victor...Hubby said they just do that stuff on purpose to get a rise out of the crowd...but I'm sorry even the guys below doing the "catching" where hollering...the Elephants were magnific http://homeschoolblogger.com/WLCPictures1/226881/ to be so close to them was way past cool. And of course no show is complete without a trained dog act they were sweet. You might be wondering why I didn't mention the clowns yet...well they were there but my kids do better at home on a school day...so there I mentioned them ... We were still cold when we got home after the long ride with the heat on high but we did have fun going to a Real Circus |

I may get hooked on this class stuff! Just have to find the people to teach them, lol. We had just as much fun this time as the time before. The greatest part is meeting all the new people! Networking is so important in homeschooling. And the kids always get along with each other and so polite and caring with each other. The neatest part is the seeds of interest in Native American History have been planted. And "Ms.Turtle" is so great with the kids! They really concect with her every time! Please view new class photos below. |

This was truly a blessing to see all the children so intently listening as Ms.Turtle , who is Cherokee, shared her heritage with us all. Her home was a living museum as it is filled with actual items used by tribes. She told stories to the children as she had been told as a child, and showed them many items and described how and why they were used. We also had an extra treat as one of the fathers that came was half Cherokee and brought flutes. All of which he played beautifully! The kids and I went out to the front porch and made a dreamcatcher and study booklet while we listened to the beautiful music. This was class one of three we had to schedule to fit in all the area families that wanted to participate. Please view the photos below. |

We have a budding star in our midst!
We worked diligently practicing for the upcoming "Narnia" play. Day and Night we spoke with an "English" Then the long week until we could view the directors choices.
Zipping down each list of Characters until
...was it?
...could it be? yes indeed it was our Nina!
How proud her father and I are of her valiant efforts. It was her first ever audition and out of 111 children she got a role and they were only casting 16 characters! My won't we be busy! And to think we could have never had the time for such fun if we were in public schools! |

Thanks to ALL the familes(238) folks that participated in our Civil War Expo! Also A HUGE THANKS to MISS ELLIE, CORPORAL LEWIS and LIEUTENANT KING for being avaialable that day! Miss Ellie and Corporal Lewis from Arkansas had a fantastic time! And our Homeschool Event made front page in our town! The creek seemed to be the big hit for the kids. Many were barefooted and playing there. And it was such a blessing to see the children enjoying the toys they made that day. The litte girls were toting around their yarn dolls and the boys were flying their parachutes. One boy tied his yarn doll to the paprachute and had great fun sending his yarn doll into the sky to ride the parachute, so cute! And I am sure no child there will forget the opportunity to actually shot the civil war guns! Each soldier went thru 120 rounds!

note in a way, for me ... I had a blast organizing the classes and meeting all my new homeschooling friends! In addition, as if the early winter weather were not bad enough so with it comes an end to our Native American Classes. Ms. Turtle pulled out all the stops for these classes! She welcomed families into her home/museum and treated us as royal family members. We got to see things most only see in books. We learned things that noone prints in the "usual" schoolbooks. Of all the stories she told the children (and adults) unanimously the favorite was
Her Scalping Knife
only used by Native Americans to take the pony tail on the person to humiliate them
well the case to this knife has actual hair on it
too funny huh?

accent however good we were is yet to be decided. None the less we practiced. Then we went to the auditions! So many kids were there!!! Barely any time for them all to read. We spent a total of about 12 hours at auditions. We had a blast!
