I need your help. In April I'll be speaking at a writers' conference, and I'd like to get some ideas for how I can be most helpful to the writers attending.
What's your biggest challenge as a writer?
Please leave a comment or e-mail me through the link at the left.
To express my thanks, I'll send you a copy of a special report about common writing mistakes and how to avoid them. Be sure to supply your e-mail address if you'd like to receive this.
Thanks for your help!

Feb. 17, 2006 - My biggest challenge is focus
Posted by JeannieFulbright
I would say that many writers are full of writing ideas, and most have several writing projects going at a time. My biggest challenge is prioritizing my projects and keeping focused on one project at a time. Is it the article due next month, the newsletter due this month, should I begin work on the book due next year or the manual that goes with a book already out, should I focus on my blog today, should I continue work on the book I so long to have for my own children? I really have to sit down and sort through my goals, my purpose for writing and what is the most important project at this time either based on deadlines or purpose; then I have to put all other projects out of my mind - which is the hard part.

Feb. 18, 2006 - Biggest Problem
Posted by BarbaraFrank
My main problem is finding time to write all of the books my brain comes up with on a regular basis. But since most writers have trouble finding time (at least most homeschooling stay-at-home mom writers!), I will share with you that my second-biggest problem is not letting my research get out of hand. At some point I have to stop and write the dang thing, but then I find another great resource and think "I should add this....."--it's part of my first-born perfectionist mindset, but controlling it so I can finish a big project is problematic for me!
Good luck on your speech---and please thank Dan Poynter for those of us who have been helped so much by his work :)

My greatest difficulties are:
Finding time.
Filling plot gaps.
Staying focused on one writing project at a time.
Battling distractions.
Researching well.
In regards to research, I have the hardest time finding the littlest things I need to know. Also, I may have the drive and inspiration to write a story, but I can't get past the hump of "I can't start writing until I know if every little detail of this idea is historically accurate."

I'd love to hear how the writers' conference goes! :-)

Prioritizing is a major problem for me. Especially when trying to determine which of my projects is a cause worthy of sucking up the precious-little free time I have.
My name is Christine and my email is cmmyers94@verizon.net.

I do not know where to start. I feel like I have this talent, but I am too busy to cultivated it. I have had many ideas over the years but struggle with getting them out of my head to mold them. I think about taking classes but feel that I will have to wait for a better time. The list goes on. I always say, "Someday I'll do it.", but I am afraid someday will never come.
Blessings!
