Welcome to my writing workshop for budding young authors. Learn how to create your characters and "show don't tell" their feelings. Write beginnings that "hook" your readers. Learn to use a "writing camera" to freeze a scene, and more! Download free worksheets. Click LESSON 1 on the left sidebar to begin.

Our newest graduate is...
MargoMargolia! (Applause please).
I'm so happy that I can post this congratulatory entry about MargoMargolia finishing the Reach for the Stars writing workshop. Despite a few "life" setbacks during the year, when I thought she'd disappeared from the face of the earth (it's hard to post your lessons if you're not near your computer!), Margo has "finished the race." Hey, have you seen how many students have signed the Lesson One Mr. Linky? Now compare it to how many have signed the Lesson 16 Mr. Linky! Yep, Margo is another member of the Graduate Line-up.
Margo does a fantastic job "showing" feelings and setting the tone for her historical novel. I wish she'd write it a little faster, however! To read Chapter One from Margo's A Yank in the Confederate Army, click here: MargoMargolia's Chapter One.
Here are her answers to the survey questions:
1) What was the main reason you decided to participate in the Writing Workshop?
So that I could get stories out of my head and write them correctly, also my Mama wanted me to.
2) Which lesson did you find to be the most helpful to the kind of writing you
do, and why?
Lesson 6 on dead words was the most helpful because I used dead words often and now I am more aware of them.
3) Which lesson was the most FUN and why?
Lesson 3 because I really like to piece together Characters and see how they turn out!
4) Is there anything you learned from the writing workshop that you feel will
"stick" with you the longest, and that you will really use when writing your
stories? If so, what is it?
I think lesson 6 will probabbly stick with me the longest (the dead words)
5) Where do you plan to go from here, writing-wise? (future plans for completing
a story, etc. A title? A nutshell?) :-)
I'm hoping to finish my story and possibly get it published.
Head on over to Margo's blog and give her a hearty congratulations!
Thanks, MaidenCaptiolaBallet made me that template. =)
Hmm, that's weird about the picture. I'll be able to send another if you need it though.
I forgot to set it up to where to get e-mail notifications for the other story, I'll go fix that right now. Notifications for the new story will send you over to my new story blog. I haven't done anymore work on the mystery story yet, I'm kinda at a stand still with it. =P
I have Kit's whole story on "Writer's Nook" along with my other things. Then I have my new story on "In The Clouds". Yeah, it is a bit of a pain having the last chapter that I've done up first, one reason I made a category for my main story so that it can just be clicked and all of the chapters are on one page. Still, it irritates me sometimes. =P
Mwahahaha... I figured out a way to have the first chapter foremost on the page! =D
Thanks for your feedback on my new story, and I'm glad that I'm not the only one with a million blogs. I have pasted your e-mail address in the notification area so you'll get e-mails when I post more. Do you want me to give you the direct links to the pieces of my new story?
I understand not being able to read my right away, it must be pretty busy to be a writer and teacher. =) Sounds fun though!
You really think that I should have a blog devoted to my story?
I was thinking that my Farmgirl blog would be reverted to a story blog...that is why I started my contempplations blog.
oh and my mom said no to the widget so I can't but I would if I was allowed.
thanks for the comments and I'll think about the sepperate blog. thanks for the classes! sorry 'bout the picture problem.
