Amish Country
|

Usually we go home Monday afternoon and my dad goes home Monday morning for work. Well this Monday my mom needed some chicken from Shipawana. So we woke up early and went there. We stopped at a few shops, had lunch, and then bought our chicken. We then decided that we wanted to drive by the Amish guy's house who sold us Major.
Every time we go to Shipsawana we go by his house or stop and say hi. So this time we were just going to drive by his house. Well, he has this horse named "Major Cammander". He is a really beautiful stallion. We are going to breed Gretta to him next spring. Anyway, you can usually see him when you drive by , because his pen is right by the road. Well, his pen was gone and he was no where in sight. We decided that we would stop by and see were he was.
He was fine, they just moved him, and put a garden were his pen used to be. So we got to talking with Gerald and his wife. The kids started to play with his kids. Ruthie who has only had one lesson in her life was riding their pony very well and she loved it. Then the amish kids hooked their ponys up to little carts. One of the amish boys decided that he would take Ruthie on a little ride down the road to his school house in the little cart.

Jacob with his little friend........

Josh Playing Baseball

All of them playing " Duck Duck Goose".......

This is Major Commandor

I don't know about you but most kids don't like posing for pics. So it was really cute when I asked the little amish kids if they would let me take pics of them. They looooooooooooooved taking pics!!!!!!!

My dad is going to buy this horse for my little sister and we are going to get a cart so it cam give the kids rides.

Well that was our day in Amish country....................................

I just have to say that the most impressive thing here is the photographer - she really captured the essence of Amish life.

Rachel!!! Those pictures are just beautiful! How neat that you got to visit Amish country like that. It looked like fun, getting to ride around in carts pulled by ponies! :) What a lovely day!
Yep, I think once you have more than 2 or 3 children, the comments begin! Some are nice, and some not so nice.
Love, Alyssa
