Our Journey Through Home School
• Apr. 8, 2009 - My SOLDIER, Peter, Stephie & Rebekah and Rachel.
| Ok, here we go.. Army logistics called yesterday to schedule Anthony for a mandatory medical screening. (Hmmmm, think they are getting ready to deploy him????) IF they are this is alot sooner then we thought. His appointment is for June 1. Time goes by so fast, cherish the moments you have with your children. We have been playing twister as a family lately, it is alot of fun... esp. when all the family is here. I am still in bed recovering, but getting alot of paer work and computer stuff done. Peter went to the Bronx Zoo today and then he will be at Montclair State University at night to watch a performance of SPLINTER. I wish I could have gone, but that would really not be a good idea. Stephanie made me the best Minestrone soup I have ever had. The twins, well since we are not doing full days of school, they are on each others nerves!! |

| Speaking of our LORD the provider. I have had a meal delivered to me everyday!! What a provision especially for a family of 7!!! My Mother in law was here last week and made food, that was eaten for lunch by my kids and husband, Dinners have been delivered everyday. What a provision. I am to be off my feet and it is such a blessing.. Today, I was up a bit to much and paying for it.... This is alot harder then I wasa hoping. I have to stay off my feet or the pain begins. I over did it today. The LORD has provided for more then me.. It is so great to be "Drunk in the Spirit." Our God is so awesome. My husband also had the week off to help and starting today I was by myself with my 3 girls, tomorrow Peter will be back (he is installing a hot water heater!!) and I will have all 4 of my children here. The Lord will help me manage. Pray for me for the strength to do just what the Lord wants sdone in a day from me, so I do not over do it again!!! |

• Jan. 7, 2009 - Lessons from Obama
The election of Barack Obama as the 44th President
of the United States should be a time of “great
searchings of heart” for American believers. He has
promised change and don’t be surprised if he delivers.
Rated as the most liberal U.S. senator, with his V.P. not
far behind, he will come to power with a Democratdominated
Congress in his corner as
well. But what lessons can he teach us?
First, he should cause us to rejoice
in the sovereignty of God. Whatever
powers he may wield as Chief Executive,
he would do well to remember that, to
paraphrase Paul, he has a Chief Executive
in heaven. World affairs are not
finally in the hands of men. It may be
that the next four (or eight) years will
be used by God to bring many in this
nation to a place where they will lose
hope in men and be ready to hear of real
hope—“the hope of the gospel.”
Which brings us to his second lesson
for us: Christians should not be looking
to politicians to do what only the Savior
can do. Many of those to whom has been
committed the ministry of reconciliation have retreated
into holy clubs (some not so holy) where entertainment
and trendy preaching is intended to attract and convince
unbelievers. This is not the way of the Master.
Real societal change is brought about one life at a
time by an individual’s repentance and faith in the
Lord Jesus. Only in this way does a new day dawn in
the life of a soul. Soul winning is hard work, as commercial
fishing and big-time farming are. Christians
in the West need to abandon hope in the red pottage
of world politics and the thin gruel of seeker-focused
religious entertainment. After all, the healthiest
churches seem to be thriving under the most oppressive
regimes. It’s time for Christians serious about the
Great Commission to reclaim our ambassadorial status,
and get back into the harvest fields.
Senator Obama should also teach us something
by his historic rise as the first black President of the
United States. Many Americans, whatever their political
affiliation, feel a certain closure in the fact that, in
a fuller measure than ever before, the documents and
the deeds are in agreement. But we are also reminded
that, according to the Barna Group, the most segregated
hour in America is still Sunday morning at 10 o’clock. Is
it not time for evangelicals to bring their documents and
deeds into alignment? If secular politicians applaud such
a step, what of disciples who affirm at least in theory,
“There is neither Jew nor Greek,...there is neither male nor
female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus”
Not that there should be coercion in the first instance,
or unbiblical compromise in the second, but rather that
they might have hearts as big as the God who “will have(1 Tim. 2:4).
all men to be saved”
Let’s remember, too, that whether we voted or not, a
subject on which the New Testament is silent, it is not
silent about us praying for the man. Where ballots may
have failed, prayers may yet turn the tide of history. It
would not be the first time. —Jabe Nicholson

Glories Seen & Unseen - A Study of the Head Covering by Warren Henderson
Many Christians simply brush off the question of whether or not a woman should cover her head while she is praying or during meetings of the church. They consider the topic to be of low priority. What real significance does a head covering have in the 21st century anyway? What does the Bible specifically teach about head covering? Should women wear a head covering today during church meetings or at other times? What were the headdress practices of the early Church? Is a woman's hair an acceptable covering for her? Was Paul's teaching only addressing converted prostitutes? These and many more questions will be addressed within the confines of this book.

Chapter 2 What were the Old Testament Headdress Practices?

• Dec. 31, 2008 - New Year on Its Way
Well here it is December 31, 2008. This has been a growing year for me here at my home. I have had surgery and have to wait now another three months to find out the results. More on the cancer in March 2009. Christmas was quite, just our family and mother in law. The twins ended up with "Rotovirus." This was the worst virus I have ever seen as a mother. vomitting and diareah for 3 days. That has subsided, now it is snowing. The girls went outside for a little sledding. The twins are still not 100% so they are in already. I will post more later. It is tea time. May the Lord richly bless you as you begin this new year. My goal with my family is to read through the bible this year. I will post the passages as we read them, holds me accountable in a way. |

The disappointment is that I can not believe that someone would visit my blog and write a horrible comment! This is what was written. "Instead of spending so much time on your BLOG why don't you spend time with your family." Needless to say, I was upset, I deleted the comment. Well to let you know.. My blog is done early in the am, late at night or TOGETHER with my family. My kids enjoy the blog world.. We will continue to blog regardless of the comments. This is done in honor of the Lord!! May God bless you today!! I have to go and READ TO MY CHILDREN now.. Good night. |

• Jun. 6, 2008 - The Homeschooler's 23rd Psalm
The Homeschooler's 23rd Psalm
"I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep." (John 10:11)
The Lord is my shepherd,
I shall not want.
He maketh me to live on less sleep:
He leadeth me through the noise of many voices.
He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me to teach
The right lessons each day, for His name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of undone
Laundry and kitchen messes, I will fear no evil:
For thou art with me, my teacher's guides and
Answer keys, they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence
Of threatening school officials and critical family members:
Thou anointest my head with heavenly wisdom, my cup runneth over.
Surely educated and godly children shall follow after me
All the days of my life: and I will dwell again one day
In a clean house with the Lord forevermore.
Praise God, we do have a good Shepherd who leads us through every homeschooling problem and provides for our every need. Best of all, our Shepherd knows us and promises never to desert us when the wolf comes seeking to destroy (John 10:11-13). As we listen to the Shepherd's voice and follow Him, we are sure to receive a great reward as we reach the peaceful green pastures of Christ-like, educated children. "And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away." (1 Peter 5:4) |

• Jun. 1, 2008 - Roofing Materiels Neede for service project
There is a widowed mother in my lake community with 2 children that have a need. The roof on their home completely needs to be replaced. Steve was there today to do repairs but it is just to far gone. We are looking for tar paper as well as shingles. The soffets as well as the gutters need to be replaced as well but the roof is most important. It leaks in 2 areas of the home. One in the girls bedroom and another inthe livingroom. We have been witnessing to this family and know that the Lord will provide for them as well as show them that he is Alive today. If you have any materials or $$ that you would like to donate to this project, let me know. An account has been set up for this purpose. The Lord has provided $30.00 so far. We will also need a "dumpster" to load the old roof into when the time comes. If you know where we can get this, that will also be appreciated. Many hands make light work, so when the "project" is underway, we will need helpers.
In HIS Service,
Stepehen & Kelli Yanez
You can e-mail us with what you will provide, we will let you know where it has to go. We do not have the equipment to pick anything up, so if you can deliver it to the home that is in repair, that would be a BLESSING!!! Please pass this on to anyone that you think can help. We would like to have this done before the summer ends. GOD BLESS YOU AS YOU BLESS OTHERS!!!!!!!!

• Apr. 23, 2008 - Do not cry when you read this!!!
This was sent to me by someone from my home school group. Try not to cry, I did.
She jumped up as soon as she saw the surgeon come out of the
operating room. She said: 'How is my little boy? Is he
going to be all right? When can I see him?'
The surgeon said, 'I'm sorry. We did all we could,
but your boy didn't make it.'
Sally said, 'Why do little children get cancer?
Doesn't God care any more? Where were you, God, when my son
needed you?'
The surgeon asked, 'Would you like some time alone
with your son? One of the nurses will be out in a
few minutes, before he's transported to the university.'
Sally asked the nurse to stay with her while she said
good-bye to her son. She ran her fingers lovingly through his
thick red curly hair. 'Would you like a lock of his
hair?' the nurse asked. Sally nodded yes. The
nurse cut a lock of the boy's hair , put it in a
plastic bag and handed it to Sally.
The mother said, 'It was Jimmy's idea to donate his
body to the University for Study. He said it might help
somebody else. 'I said no at first, but Jimmy said, 'Mom, I
won't be using it after I die. Maybe it will help some
other little boy spend one more day with his Mom.'
She went on, 'My Jimmy had a heart of gold. Always
thinking of someone else. Always wanting to help
others if he could.'
Sally walked out of Children's Mercy Hospital for
the last time, after spending most of the last six
months there. She put the bag with Jimmy's
belongings on the seat beside her in the car.
The drive home was difficult. It was even harder
to enter the empty house. She carried Jimmy's belongings, and
the plastic bag with the lock of his hair to her son's
room.
She started placing the model cars and other personal
things back in his room exactly where he had always kept
them.. She lay down across his bed and, hugging his pillow,
cried herself to sleep.
It was around midnight when Sally awoke. Lying
beside her on the bed was a folded letter. The
letter said :
'Dear Mom,
I know you're going to miss me; but don't think
that I will ever forget you, or stop loving you,
just 'cause I'm not around to say "I LOVE
YOU". I will always love you, Mom, even more with
each day. Someday we will see each other again. Until t hen,
if you want to adopt a little boy so you won't be
so lonely, that's okay with me. He can have my
room and old stuff to play with. But, if you
decide to get a girl instead, she probably
wouldn't like the same things us boys do. You'll have to buy
her dolls and stuff girls like, you know.
Don't be sad thinking about me. This really is a
neat place. Grandma and Grandpa met me as soon as
I got here and showed me around some, but it will
take a long time to see everything. The angels are
so cool. I love to watch them fly. And, you know
what? Jesus doesn't look like any of his pictures. Yet, when I
saw Him, I knew it was Him. Jesus himself took me to see
GOD! And guess what, Mom? I got to sit on God's
knee and talk to Him, like I was somebody
important. That's when I told Him that I wanted to
write you a letter, to tell you good bye and
everything. But I already knew that wasn't allowed. Well, you
know what Mom? God handed me some paper and His own
personal pen to write you this letter. I think
Gabriel is the name of the angel who is going to
drop this letter off to you. God said for me to
give you the answer to one of the questions you
asked Him 'where was He when I needed him?' 'God said He was
in the same place with me, as when His son Jesus was on the
cross. He was right there, as He always is with all
His children.
Oh, by the way, Mom, no one else can see what I've
written except you. To everyone else this is just a
blank piece of paper. Isn't that cool? I have to
give God His pen back now He needs it to write
some more names in the Book of Life. Tonight I get
to sit at the table with Jesus for supper. I'm sure the food
will be great.
Oh, I almost forgot to tell you. I don't hurt
anymore the cancer is all gone.. I'm glad because I
couldn't stand that pain anymore and God couldn't stand to see
me hurt so much, either. That's when He sent The Angel of
Mercy to come get me. The Angel said I was a Special
Delivery! How about that?
Signed with Love from God, Jesus & Me.

• Mar. 19, 2008 - God Made Jesus to be Sin
Since it is that time of the year when everyone rushes to church.. I wanted to make sure that you are there for the right reason. God loves you and sent HIS son so you can have eternal life. Read the article below. It is one of my favorites.

God Made Jesus to be Sin
By: Michael Pearl
Kneeling in the garden, Jesus believed God and received the weight of sin.
God “made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin, that we might be made the righteousness of God in him (2 Cor. 5:21).”
God was willing to see Jesus as a sinner that He might be permitted to see us as righteousness. Jesus became what we are that we might become what He is. By the imputing act of God, He became a sinful son of man so we could become sinless sons of God. It was a trade. He traded His righteousness for our sin. He then bore the consequences of our sin before God so that we can bear the consequences of His righteousness before God. He ascended the hill of Calvary so we could ascend Mount Zion. The God who “calleth those things which be not as though they were” called His Son something He wasn’t—a sinner—so that He could call us something we are not—righteous. “Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin (Rom. 4:82).”
For those who believe, God sees no sin except that which is upon Jesus. God therefore punished the man Jesus until the penalty of our sin was exhausted and the justice of the law was fully satisfied.
Under the curse
Jesus hung on the cross, not as the accepted man, but as the cursed and rejected man. The human race was a mountain of condemned flesh. Jesus climbed to the top of the pile and received into his body the full blast of all God’s fury. He alone knows what it is to fall into the hands of the living God bearing the full penalty of sin. The curse of the law poured into Jesus until it was empty. The sword of justice was broken off in His holy flesh.
Resurrected
Under the watchful eye of the law, He was lowered to hell carrying the sin of the world. The law walked away from the execution fully satisfied. Viewing His execution, it closed its case against the human race.
But the Scripture quotes Jesus in that hour, “For thou will not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption (Psalm 16:10).”
When the justice of God and the demand of the law was fully expended, He exercised his rights as an overcomer and ascended, leaving the power of sin broken and death void of its sting.
A man who has paid for the crimes chargeable to him is released from prison. So God released the overcoming man from the prison house of death. In the resurrection, Jesus is the accepted Man, received into glory, seated on God’s right hand and given the promise of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:33)
If you believe this, rejoice that your sins are forgiven. |
