Making the Best of Our Time

I have been trying for some time now to post our schedule here.  I could never get it to the right size when I would copy and paste so I'll try to just give a brief overview.  I really struggle with being flexible but God has helped me and given me grace to learn how to handle all the interruptions to MY plans that almost always come along.  Bearing this in mind, here is what our week usually looks like:

Sunday:

Church

out to eat

(maybe a nap if I'm very blessed)

evening--Number 2 and Number 3 have a violin lesson with a young guy from our church who comes to our house to give lessons.  He usually stays for supper and sometimes "game time"--we'll play a board or card game.

Monday:

morning - school

afternoon - Number 1 goes to work (teaching swim lessons), I teach piano lessons and then go to water aerobics (4:30) while Number 1 and 2 finish up their school work

Tuesday:

morning - school

afternoon - kids have choir (12:30-2:00), then they swim (2:00-3:15).  Most of the time I eat lunch with Lover Boy and run errands.  Then, I take Number 1 to her car pool for basketball.  She can't play on the team because she has knee problems, so they are letting her come as a "trainer".  I help drive the car pool (to a town about 20 miles away) about once a month. OIther than that, I pick her up again around 6:30.

evening - Number 2 and Lover Boy go to Boy Scouts

Wednesday:

morning - school

noon - I go to water aerobics/Number 1 comes with me to go to work (they're at the same place)

afternoon - more school work until 5:00 when I pick up Number 1 and get the kids a quick "fast food" supper. Then I take them to Awana (a Bible club).  Lover Boy and I go on a date while they are at Awana.

Thursday:

morning - 10:00 I take Number 1 up to the home school co-op and come back to have school with the other 2.  Lover Boy meets her for lunch and then she stays up there for the rest of the afternoon.

afternoon - I take the kids to swim at 2:00, pick them up again at 3:20.  Then, we head up to the co-op where I am teaching a Personal Finance Class with a Dave Ramsey course for teens.  Then, we head home and I fix supper (hopefully I put something in the slow cooker....)

Friday:

morning - school, Emily goes to basketball at 7:30 and then I pick her up at 10:30--this is when I look forward to her getting her license next spring!

afternoon - I go to water aerobics, then we meet a group of other home schoolers at the park for Park Day.  We don't always get to go but I do enjoy getting to be around the other moms and visit a while.

evening - We usually have pizza and a movie night (if there are no outside activities, like youth night).  I finally wised up and signed up for NetFlix.  I don't have to worry about going to get a movie any more--it just comes to me now!

Saturday:

Groceries, errands, clean house, etc., etc....

In the midst of this plan we have to insert cleaning, laundry, errands, cooking, menu planning, budgeting, bill paying, grading, etc., etc...As much as I love the computer and blogging, I have to keep it in check and don't always get as much time as I would like to...

I must remember:

Ephesians 5:16:

"Making the best use of the time, because the days are evil."

I know that some day I will look around me and not know what to do with my time because the kids will be grown and not need me like they do now.  I try not to dwell on this very long because right now this is who I am.  I will have to figure out a new schedule then and it makes me a little sad.  I know there is a season to everything and I will look forward to a new season when the time comes.

Have a very blessed day and make the best of your time!
