Trying to find "our normal" again

Now that the older two girls are back home from their month long visit with their grandparents in Florida and we are all back home from our family vacation, it is time to try to find "our normal" again. Yeah, I know, whatever that is.

I am anxious to get back to my blogs but need to get the family settle back into "our normal" again. So I will return later this week.

Until then I'd like to leave you with a piece of wisdom that God literally laid in front of my face today with absolute perfect timing like only He can.

"You must hold on, so you can do what God wants and receive what He has promised." Hebrews 10:36 (emphasis mine)

I see that Grace is reading "Tale of Despereaux"... my daughter just wrote about that book on her blog! www.katfaith.blogspot.com

Thanks for your sweet comment on my blog today, too!

We are definetly not the norm! LoL! But I understand where your coming from. Our computer has been down for over two weeks due to lightning strike and oddly I rather enjoyed the break from blogging. Blessings as you settle down into your routine, Julie

I hope you had a great trip, and "normal" returns quickly.
Don't you love it when God speaks so clearly to you right where you are?

I'm so glad the Lord is showing you a more relaxed way to learn. Isn't it great? There are so many ways to explore and have fun learning that aren't stressful and sitting at a book. The thing that I didn't mention in that post is that I don't stress over those things we do. Math takes usually about 20 min. a day. Phonics takes about 20 min. We work on the lapbooks everyday if it's possible. If not, I don't stress that they aren't learning something. I *know* (because God has continued to tell me and show me) that they *are* learning something, even if I'm not in the room and no books are out. Yesterday morning we didn't do any of the normal morning work, because after I finished my morning routine, I looked out the window and Marissa and Daniella were sitting out at the picnic table. It was a beautiful fall morning, Daniella was drawing while Marissa read out loud an American Girl book to her. I let them sit there all morning. Marissa was getting read-aloud practice, Daniella was being read to and practicing her drawing, and they were both enjoying the sounds and feel of fall and nature. What did they need me for?!! They were learning. The lapbooks and other things are still waiting. That moment wouldn't.
Okay. Sorry for being so long winded. I'll get off my soapbox now. : ) Have a great day!

Hello and welcome to my place! I am a homeschooling mom of four spunky, rarely quiet, fun kids ages 11, 9, 6, and 3. We are traveling down this winding road of living and learning...what an adventure! I find great encouragement from Zephaniah 3:17, "The Lord your God is with you. He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you. He will quiet you with His love. He will rejoice over you with singing." I think Zephaniah 3:17 perfectly sums up who God is and how He feels about each of us. I never want to move away from the Truth this verse speaks…so I’ve made it my permanent address.
