I Love Being a Mom!

Being a mom is such hard work with tons of sacrifices and requiring an amount of patience that many of us run short on. But despite all of that I absolutely LOVE being a mom! The joys are priceless. Here are some reasons I love being a mom:

Moms get to be proud of their son's diligent work with their dad in creating a spiffy Pinewood Derby car. We also get to be extra proud of our son when his car, despite it's sharp looks, looses the race and yet he continues to be excited for the other boys and cheers them on.

Moms get to be full of pride as they watch their husband pin the latest earned patch onto their son...

and we get to delight in their excitement of the fireworks cake they made with their dad. He especially gets giddy (as does his dad) when he realizes that even though his cake was not the most outlandish looking cake, it was one of the few that was devoured in no time.

Moms get to giggle at their son's wild hair styles that he thinks are just the coolest thing since sliced bread.

Moms get to delight in their daughter's dream of some day having a ferret...and see the dream slowly become a reality. (Grace has been saving up for over a year for her ferret. She's been doing continual research on ferrets and cages. She discovered this cage was on sale this month and asked if she could purchase it. Something tells me it won't be too much longer before there is an occupant living in this new home. Moms also get to help their children's dreams come true!)

Moms get to let their oldest daughter call their DJ friend on the radio to request a song...and catch their expression on "film" when they hear their friend's voice announce their name for all to hear.

Then the moms get to dance to the requested song with her kids!

Moms get to encourage creativity and skills in taking apart a wood crib and building a "bus"...then eating lunch on the "bus". (Yes, the kids informed me they were building a bus and continue to refer to their creation as "the bus". Love it!)

Moms get to let their kiddos lick the beaters after making cake batter.

Moms get to let their kids use their saved up money to buy ice cream from the ice cream truck, run around in the backyard barefooted, hear their children say "Mommy, I love you" for no other reason than to just speak their hearts, and they also get to watch their children explore and play as only a child can with all the joy in the world!

I love being a mom!

Post why you love being a mom on your blog then leave me a comment so I can come see the joys you find in motherhood.

Having four little ones six and under at home can be pretty overwhelming most of the time...but in the business of the day I am often overcome by my gratitude to God for allowing me this gift called motherhood.

Some of the most rewarding moments that come to mind are feeling their baby breath on my face for the very first time, countless hours of nursing them into a milk coma, getting that ever so wonderful toothless grin when you enter their bedroom after nap time, the moments of first words, first prayers, first aha moments about God & their world are just a few!

Many times strangers will say to me "Wow you have your hands full" to which I smile and quickly respond, "better full than empty!" Thanks God for the opportunity to leave such a legacy! And thanks Jennifer for your heart and sharing your gratitude in mothering, its contagious! Hugs~Kristen

Oh Jennifer, right on! Being a mom is the most noble thing I have ever done. It has been by far the most hardest, but the blessing of having these people in my life out-weighs any inconvenience or sacrifices I have had to make. It is so amazing how much these little people are a part of me. I just can't be away from them very long until I need their presence! We were made for this weren't we :-)?
Blessings, Julie

Welcome to 317 Zephaniah Way! Stay for a spell and make yourself at home. We are traveling down this winding road of living and learning...what an adventure! I find great encouragement from Zephaniah 3:17, "The Lord your God is with you. He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you. He will quiet you with His love. He will rejoice over you with singing." I think Zephaniah 3:17 perfectly sums up who God is and how He feels about each of us. I never want to move away from the Truth this verse speaks…so I’ve made it my permanent address.
