A friend sent this today to an autism support group I belong to for Christian homeschoolers. It encouraged me so deeply I asked her if I could repost it on my blog and she agreed. This to me is a perfect mark of a man after God's own heart, one who truly has his priorities straight, and was for me a much needed reminder to keep God first in all areas of my life. It isn't terribly profound by some definitions...but isn't it supposed to be the "little things that count"?
I hope it encourages you the way it did me.
As I came into work today, my boss said he wanted to talk to me (he is a Christian). He asked me what I usually do during the weekend. He said he assumes I spend most of it doing laundry, cooking for special diets and running errands but do I have time for myself. I told him I do go to church every weekend but no matter how hard I work to make the Sabbath a day of rest, I cannot escape the fact that my kids need to eat and have clean clothes.
He said he was concerned I will get burned out. He said he would like me to pick two days a week and come in 30 minutes later to work and spend that time at Starbucks or someplace quiet to read the Word or just relax. He said he feels this would make me more productive and keep me from burning out. I feel so blessed to work for a Godly man that is wise and cares about his employees.
